I would also remove that capacitor from the circuit. They usually do more harm than good, and they only exist in those old diagrams because people thought the capacitor would prevent voltage spikes. Usually what happens is that the capacitor accidentally fries the person's laser diode.
Also remember to put your module into a real heatsink. Those 12mm "Aixiz" modules are not heatsinks, and I've burned out diodes from heat using just those because they didn't do a good job of heatsinking.
