New Mitsubishi 1.8W 638nm diode in 9mm package

well i wouldnt expect it to be murdered, but yea i guess its more of a murder fund than a GB, just very curious on the results!

I have the Mits 500, surely the bar would not be bigger, Boeing does not even build planes with wings that BIG!

IMO if you want to own a 638NM like this 500MW you need to live well away from any know flight paths because the only place you want to point that thing is up in the air, it is truly a hideous "Thing" Nice colour though!

Maybe the 1.8W will be better?
 
I tried to buy one just now, but their payment system is f:(cked. They claim to accept paypal, but there's no way to select it. Credit card was declined by their system. It seems they know their system is shit. From thier FAQ:

"Why I can't make the payment with my credit card? Some of the credit cards will be declined, you can also make the payment by Paypal,West Union or bank transfer."

I emailed them, but the track record suggests I won't be getting a response.

That sucks! is that site reputable? I hope another source for the diode comes up soon! knowing our luck by the time someone here gets one purchased DTR will probably get them in stock a week later

omg i really hope the divergence is better then my 700mw oracle diode laser. i love this color. 3.5w of 638nm i cant even wrap my head around that sort of brighness

I am reasonably confident, from a couple sources, that we will have access to SOME of these over the next few months.
 
I'm curious, but not really that excited because of the divergence. TBH I'd rather have a 1W with OK divergence (similar to the multimode blues and green) than a 3.5W flashlight.

What am I missing here... has someone determined the divergence specs on these diodes?

I thought we're still at the guessing stage?

I'm taking that to mean they've increased the emitter and therefore the slow/fast axis ratio. But I *really* hope I'm wrong.
 
They eventually replied with a paypal invoice. So I should have one in the next week. It was all a bit shady, but I'll find out the hard way.

We're sorry for that we haven't sent out your diode. We found a big problem while testing the laser diode. We will let you know the result. Therefore your payment has been refunded. We're appreciate for your understanding.
