Hello everyone.
I am from India, and lasers intrigue me. I do not plan to buy the monster 100mw+ lasers anytime in the future soon, however, I like to watch videos and generally look around on the web.
Infact, searching google for 100mw lasers brought me here.
As for ownership, I have a <8$ DealExtreme(DX logo) laser which says 5mW. However, beam is clearly visible even on a full moon light, and I can easily point out stars and stuff. Indoors, in dimly lit rooms the beam is visible. So it may be actual 15mw or so.

Will be posting a thread about my laser experience, so just saying hello for now

Welcome to LPF tsk1979 :)

If you can see the beam in a dimly lit room I'd say it's more than 15mW.

Thank you Jerry. Reading through your links. Many links I read even before registering

Thanks Gun. I will post a video review, and let members judge. Its not 5mW for sure. From what I have seen in true 5mW reviews (using measurement appliances) my beam is a lot brighter.

For my purpose (Pointing at stars even on moonlit night), this laser is more than enough. At night I have seen the beam spot on a building over 2km away.

Welcome to the forum tsk1979! I've always wanted to travel to India. One of my favorite dishes is lamb vindaloo (extra spicy). As Jerry said, read all the stickies and snoop around the wealth of information archived in the forums via the search tool. Have fun and happy lasering!!

Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome dayton. Though I have been to the US a few times, it has always been to california and Nevada.
I am surprised you like lamb Vindaloo. Most westerners usually cannot survive the chilli assault :D
If you enjoy the spice rush, do try out Chicken Chettinad(Easily available at "South India" restaurants)

I'm on a mission to find it now. :)

There is an Indian restaurant near where I live... I will investigate if their chef will prepare this south Indian dish. Thanks for the tip!
