Hey everyone, I've just been looking at the Jetlasers site for any new toys that may have been developed recently, and "lo and behold", what do I see .....the new PL-E mini!
These sweet little things look exactly like their big brother, the PL-E Pro, only at about 2/3 ~ 3/4 scale.

It looks as if they have all the same features as the full size version, including their famous internal focusing, and the ability to use the very cool J/L 10X B.E.

It seems like black is the only available color for right now, maybe silver later on?
The J/L site is showing 3 available wavelengths at this time, although while looking through the details of the 3 available mini's, I've noticed that many other wavelengths are shown; I'm assuming (and hoping) that there is a more extensive line-up coming!

Here is what looks to be available right now:

  • 405nm - 150mW & 300mW
  • 445nm - 1.6W & 2.0W
  • 465nm - 1.4W
Edit: Also now available.

  • 520nm - 50mW
  • 532nm - 300mW, 400mW, 500mW, 600mW, & 700mW
New 3/4/17

  • 473nm - 30mW, 50mW, 70mW, 100mW

The prices range from $149 to $199, not too bad for a high quality J/L product.
These three wavelengths all use 2 x 16340 batteries.

The other (not available yet) wavelengths listed under the descriptions of these 3, are 473, 532, 635, 650, 808, 980, &1064nm, I'd love to see some of these become a reality in the near future, espesially the 473nm! These not yet available units show that they will use a 18650 battery.

Here is a photo of the mini from Jetlasers site!

Re: Jetlasers new PL-E mini!

Thanks for the heads up BTG. Heading over to their site, got a soft spot for the smallish host units. :) ~~~~~~ edit, checked them out, very nice, :)

Re: Jetlasers new PL-E mini!

I was thinking the same thing Sta, I would really like to see a 100mW 473nm version, but I may have to try the 465nm for the time being.

Great company JetLasers.

Nice to see a new JetLasers product series with the professional features and high quality they are known for and at excellent prices as well.

A full featured PL-E Pro Mini is a great solution for people looking for a smaller unit than the full sized PL-E Pro.

Couldn't agree more; many people really like the PL-E style, but didn't need/want the extra large PL-E size.
I've seen more than a few people attracted to the various J/L clones out there because they were able to get the "look" without the size and cost.
This new offering ought to fill in that size gap with a full featured, high quality, mid sized unit at what is IMO, a fair price!

If the 473 becomes available I'll gladly get it:D

Gotta get my 473nm labby up and running first though:crackup:

I would like a high pow 532 and this host would be nice to have it in. What's the happy medium between power and stability? The only dpss lasers I have are the spartan 589 and the Sanwu 80mw. The 80 is very stable and I would like to get as much powa without dealing with a temperamental mode hopping and power fluctuations. Is 400mw too much to ask for?

Looks like it's time for an update; I've just noticed that Jetlasers has increased their 'PL-E mini' inventory to include two new wavelengths, a 520nm & 532nm with some pretty decent output options!

• 520nm is available in 50mW, & 1W models.
• 532nm is available in 300, 400, 500, 600, & 700mW models.

I'm still waiting on a sweet 473nm 100mW unit, hopefully soon! :D

I think it's an error, if you look further down in the description it shows this:

2. PL-E Mini series at 473/532/635/650/808/980/1064nm takes a single 18650(3.7v, fully chargable to 4.2V).

3. PL-E Mini series at 405/445/465/520nm takes two 16340(each 3.6v, fully chargable to 4.2V).

Edit: I also just noticed that the description says - "PL-E 532 Blue laser, it also misstates the 520nm as a Blue laser".

I sure hope prices of 532/520 come down some day. i will never spend 300+ on a green laser.(unless I win the lotto:D) I love the JL style tho. I may have to pick up one of those under 200$ models... hmmm
