welcome , before you do you own laser build do some practice on cheep lasers how to use the solder and so on if you have the cheep 303 lasers take it a part undersold the diode and solder it back on so you can learn and get practice i my self destroyed a lot of expensive diodes heheh :)

I appreciate it guys. This build should be a breeze considering the amount of help I've already received.

Welcome, Gregory. I can tell you for certain that the thermal conductivity of titanium is poor when compared with just about any material usually made into a heat sink. I'd have to look it up, but IIRC the thermal conductivity is around 60 W/m x K. Copper is over 400.

Thanks Paul, i assumed the metals being used were the most efficient for the job.

Turns out my copy and paste skills are terrible. Anyone know how to copy and paste a picture on a Samsung Tab A?

Welcome to the forum:) Looks like you might catch the build bug.
Just so you know a 1W laser isn't "low" power;) I would consider low power as 5mW or less as everything above that isn't considered eye safe.
As others have mentioned, you need a good size heat-sink for that diode but there are lots of potential choices for a host or someone can make what you want with just a 2 wire hookup. How large a host/sink matters for how you intend to use it. Simple as long runtime = large heat-sink.
