Hi,
Yesterday I received two 405nm suitable glass lenses from ebay. I have also tested them on 650nm red laser with great success.

I must say when I did read about the increased output you get with this glass lens, compared to the plastic lens - IT IS TRUE!! The spot on any surface is brighter. The short focal length of these lenses will automaticly include more of the laser light in the diode. Even if I don't focus this laser, just use "infinite focus", the main part of the beam is about 2mm in diameter, when it burns hole in black plastic cases, and leaves burn marks on my skin.

So what did happen when I placed a second glass lens on it??? With a focal length of only 2 - 3mm with maximum utilized optical power, it burns almost everything. Even transparent plastic... (CD's an stuff).

I have even removed a few warts on my arm with this laser when increasing the focus length to 40mm. Just made coal of them an scratch them away. Almost no pain. I guess the laser is so hot, it burns every nerve so quicly, I even didn't feel it was burning sometimes - except the funny smell of fried pork :D.

So be careful if you decide to use these lenses. It will become more powerful without increasing power input.

Damn dude , you have warts on your arm?

Did you know that warts are a known form of human papillomavirus ?

good luck with the lenses , although i would (no pun intended) focus on the warts...

Wart - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Well, now they are gone - it's not actually warts, but more like pale moles that is about 0.5 - 1mm in hight and 3 - 4mm in diameter. I also did cut away some filiform warts I had on my neck too - with a green laser. Now I haven't all these ugly filiform warts anymore - and no visible scars :) Just a nasty sound when burning, with a funny smell too. It was worth it...

So if you want some laser surgery - just ask. I do it for free :D

Careful, or not only the FAA, but also the AMA will be after us :shhh:

It's really interesting how you have a second glass lens overlapping the first one. Did you just fit the second glass lens on top of the 1st one inside the lens nut...or module? I'm guessing you are talking about the 405-G-1 lens :)

When I read this thread I threw up in my mouth a little.:barf:

That's OK, Mike - I got your laser and ran the first test on it today, you might just poop yourself a little when you see what that little SOB is putting out on regular alkalines! (Check your PM's)

what is your output power?
I think it is around 120 - 150mW. I have no tools to measure it, but according to the seller, it should run at this power at a specific current (approx 150mA). I use a 7.4V lipo and a resistor.

I guess it is that lens. It has very short focal length, and does not absorb violet light as much as other glass lenses I know of.

The doubble lens config is simply done by using the first one as a regular collimator lens to get a straight beam. But the second lens must be inverted 180 degrees in order to make a good burning point (So you have the convex (curved) part of both lenses facing eachother). If you don't do this correctly you will get too much optical errors, so the burning spot will be much weaker. I tried different ways to fix the lenses. The lenses must not touch each other, because then you will get a tiny flat surface where some of the laser light will not be collimated. Besides, you'll damage the lenses that way. So My second lens is right outside the the first one which is fixed inside an excess lens housing I have.

no its not that, we have kids in the forum that cant read certain words without going into shock ...i.e the word sex makes certain users giggle and cover their eyes....

uhm, what lens was that? do you have an ebay link, vidar?

Sorry for the inconvenience... I did not think of that someone was a little more sensitive to such contents that I am.

Vidar

It has nothing to do with sensitivity to a subject. I can't speak for everyone but I don't want to come to a laser forum to read about people burning shit off their body with a laser because they presumably have no insurance or fear doctors.

wait... you all have to pay for health emergencies in USA? haha that's messed up

You may need to find a forum that is moderated or censored for that type of content. .

and from what text did you presume that someone was without insurance or feared doctors ?
