I can see price drops, powerful lasers, retinal burnings and laser beams in the sky.
Future is near.

Now the question is,
Who will be the first to buy one, dissasemble it and tell us how powerful is the Blu-Ray diode of them?

Any bet?
probably gooygus

Re: New fresh 8X Blu-Ray burners! Prepare your hos

my fingers are crossed that these are actually different diodes and not just optics that make up for the faster speed!

The information in the trade journals several months ago was that they were working on a "new diode", NOT working on improving the optics.

Peace,
dave

313. is not a far cry from the 250. I just spent on another 6x. Im hoping that due to the later production date on mine it may have a better diode,

I'm hoping for some surplus laser sleds from the 6X being dumped on the market :)

Peace,
dave

Has this happened with the 4x yet? or do we call those 803T's? ;)  The 6x I just bought was from a local retailer, 2 months ago the salesman tilted his head like a confused dog when I inquired for one. I think it will be a while before they are availible in sleds or really come down in price. They have dropped by about 100. since my first this past May, hopefully the trend continues down to $20. :)Though it may take some time...

Re: New fresh 8X Blu-Ray burners! Prepare your hos

Make sure to check the Black Friday and closer to Christmas sales! Who knows, maybe these will come down in price... even just temporarily and not by much ;)

Re: New fresh 8X Blu-Ray burners! Prepare your hos

the 6x could do 6x DL.  can the 8x do 8x DL or only SL........ If only SL then the laser may not be much if any improved over 6x.

looking at the specs, the Buffalo one isn't that impressive, the Sony one looks nice though

Re: New fresh 8X Blu-Ray burners! Prepare your hos

It diffidently going to be pricey to find out how much power these diodes can be pushed too, but as Dave said this could bring down the 6X significantly and that always a plus+

Re: New fresh 8X Blu-Ray burners! Prepare your hos

Assuming that you are talking about single/dual layer, drlava, then yes, the Sony is supposed to be able to do SL or DL. I see nothing about DL for Buffalo, though.

Re: New fresh 8X Blu-Ray burners! Prepare your hos

I vote for DrLava and Wannaburn to be the first ones this time ;D ;D ;D

I toasted enough 6x diodes !!

Mike
