New collimator lens for Blue MM diodes

Yea, it would, could be 10% or more lost by overshooting the edges, or if the diode happens to be less divergent (according to min max of the specs), it could fit very well (for the two diodes I referenced). Paul is right, the FL is a bit long to be optimum, but that depends on which end of the min max the divergence ends up at for the particular run of diode.

So is this like a FAC lens that will correct the uneven divergence ? If so that would be great, we could use this, then round lenses, otherwise it's a G2 then C-lens pair and then round lenses, this new lens will have to be aligned and positioned, it cant be used in a threaded lens barrel if it works the way I expect.

Is that correct ?
