I recently decided to purchase a DLSR (used to have one) and yesterday I got a Nikon D5200 based on research and some hearing very good things about the camera from Gismo. If you look at his photos, besides being beautiful photographs, the technical quality of them is first rate. So I got one.
My Canon SX40 (Pro Shot series) is/was a good camera and I have taken over 30K shots with it and am happy with the quality of them. After using the Nikon for a few hundred shots I can't believe how much superior the technical quality is compared to the Canon. So many nuances in capturing faint colors. And I really like using a real manual focus system that works well.
Some of the pics here were taken in my upstairs den to play around with the camera before I used it at night in my garage. I used both my projectors, and hand helds w/some gratings, and my glass sphere in some. Some of the shots here are kind of repeats from earlier photo shoots but I wanted to be able to compare new to old. I really am impressed am how much better the quality is. In the weeks and months ahead, I am looking forward to using the camera in all different situations and probably try to reshoot some of older ideas I did before I got the projectors. I also listed what I used on each photo. Enjoy.
