I have just completed this host, it has been built by about 12 parts together
- diode NUBM44
- driver SL-7
- battery: 2 x 26650
- duty cycle : 180s
- lens G2

What diode is in this unit ?

At what current are you driving it ?

Can you do a test from at least 6 inches from the sensor, holding it that close I understand can cause an incorrect high reading.

I somehow missed the not for sale tag in the OP. Sorry about that. It is an interesting host. If it had been made of copper, or at least the heat sink, it would have a much longer duty cycle. It is a nice looking host. Your friend does very good work. I might have used the end cap as a focus knob. :yh:

Brass looks good but it will tarnish with handling, granted you can polish it, but just think about a true gold finish Someday I would like to have a copper host plated in 18k gold, maybe with a future yellow single mode diode.
