I used the same host in an LOC build but with no driver. There is a circuit in this flashlight that dims when you hold down the clicky switch. I want to make a blu ray laser out of one of these flashlights but the flashlight puts out 5.5voils max and 3.0volts min so only a boost drive would work but then that means that i won't be able to dim it so i wanted to go with a linear driver but 5.5volts won't be enough current .

I sent an blu ray o-like driver to Daguin to be set @ 110mA and he said it acts as both a boost/linear driver so after hearing that i thought it might work and it did so here it is. I also have a 405-g-1 lense, she burns like crazy when its on the highest setting and when i dim it down to the lowest setting it makes a perfect pointer! i will make a video of it working so you guys can see how it dims pictures don't do this laser justice!

Nice adaptation of your available components.

+1

I've been working with the driver and several other low powered violet pointers (stay tuned for the sell off ;) I should have 7-8 of them at cost). I've found that the driver climbing is somehow related to the dummy load heating up. The current does not appear to climb when hooked to a diode. In a build they are very stable.

Peace,

95-ish mw, + 25% with the glass, so about 118.75mW, but that looks much more then that... Idk.

Will dropping below the threshold hurt the diode or just shut it off? Also can these drivers work and dim with other colored diodes?

I don't see why it would hurt the diode. But it might.

I have a labby with a 150ohm pot, and even at it's min (max resistance), the diode never stops lasing. It's just really dim.

I guess a simple way to try would be to set the current with the pot attached (set to 0), and then turn it to see if the reading drops below the threshold.

But I say that a 50 to 100ohm pot would do a good job.
