Hi Everyone,

In the near future i will be building a all Cu host that i purchased from Ehgumus.
Here are the choices :
NUB44/450nm Diode
And
NDG7475/520nm Diode
2-18650 Panasonic cells
G2 lens
Would like all your opinions on this build Thank You ...

Looks like you have everything you need already but the driver and which diode to use. Is that what you want feedback for?

I'd go with the 520nm.
Driver should be an Xdrive from lazereer. I like those the best. Man that Cu host looks great.
 
It's a beautiful host, looks fantastic. I'd imagine that was a slight blow to the wallet. Shall we compare? Both will be about equal brightness, ~7W of blue and ~1.2W of green. With the NDG7475, with two 3400mAh panasonics and run at 2.4A, that's somewhere around 2hrs and 50 mins of runtime... With the NUBM44 at ~4.5A that's an estimated run time of just over 1 hour 30 mins... So NDG7475 wins because it draws less current. NUBM44 clearly backs WAYYY more punch, an insane amount of power. But the NDG7475 has better beam specs I believe, so better divergence and beam shape. So you'll be seeing less of a spread when pointing the NDG7475 into the sky, also a tighter dot on any clouds you're pointing it at.
So I guess it boils down to if you prefer power or beam specs. Wether you like to use your lasers indoors or out. Personally, I'd prefer the 520 like VG does :)
 
I would go with the 7475, I think that pretty copper would look better with the brilliant green beam, also a 44 builds up a lot of heat and would likely be slower to cool down in an all copper finless host. But the 7475 and that long handle and 2 18650's would yield a decent duty cycle.
The 44 would make a good hand warmer this winter while you wait for it to cool down.

Well all the great feedback and info is really helping me decide on which diode to buy. So far it looks like the 520nm is taking the lead and not a bad choice from you guys. Thank you this is making it easier to choose . All you guys are awesome and informative.

@ Visible How about a SXD with ramp up does the sound good?

@ Gabe Yes run time would be very long with all that CU and those 2 cells I run those 3400's quite often and divergence would be more with the 520nm thanks..

@ Red your so right i would have to wait a longer time for a cool down period with the 44. So i would need a larger heat sinking for that diode. I might have to contact Sinner for the 44 build thanks so much..

520, but it depends what you want it for. that heat sink is kinda small for the crazy blue. just had one ( a crazy blue) made in a heatsink that is 2 inches in diameter, it still warms up pretty quicklY. What were you going to do with the diode you are buying from me?

Hi Shake,
I will look for a CU host with a heat sink of 1-1/2 in. or better most likely from Sinner. I was thinking along the lines of that XL Limited all CU host he make with the treaded heat sink.And i'll have him make a beam expander adapter in CU to match the host with a 10x BE .

there's always the NUBM07E, you get a nicer blue, and its much brighter (and not to expensive). otherwise id go with the NDB7475, green all the way.

Wow driven at 5000mA... Will you be expecting the poor diode to live very long? Lol

May be so pal but i just couldn't resist the temptation. My run times are short but sweet but the satisfaction is awesome. The SXD has a real long ramp up set in it so the diode won't get smacked with all that current. Hopefully that's the ticket for longevity for this guy. Thanks for the reply and concerns for the diode .. Thank your looking pal.

I know its a PITA but you should keep a log of run times on that- at least a rough est. of the time you put on it... May it live long but good info on how long it does survive @ 7W... :shhh::shhh:

Hi Hak,
Yes a great idea That will be a first for me keeping a log of runtime for this diode. When ever i complete a build i use a stop watch and a IR Heat detector to monitor the first duty cycle. So as logging time and heat dispersion won't be an issue here. Hak, Thank you for bringing that to mind fantastic Buddy.. Interesting concept will do..
