Ok, I've seen enough of these projects and seen how awesome they can turn out, I want one now. I'm wondering if any of you guys could give me a step-by step on how to build a Blu-Ray laser, I'm definitely new to this so I'd need anyone kind enough to spell it out. I really wanna build a blue laser so please help! The blue lasers are so awesome, I love blue light and would love to have one of my own.

Not detailed at all, but a basic overview
BTW BluRay = violet. it is NOT blue.

1 - Buy BluRay sled
2 - Harvest diode CAREFULLY
3 - Get driver and set current
4 - insert BluRay diode into module
5 - Connect diode to driver
6 - apply power to driver
7 - BluRay!

all of these steps, there is more detailed info available if you look for it.

It'd be nice to do it yourself but if you want someone to do it for you I can build quite nice ones.

I'll give you a slightly more detailed version.

1. Order blu-ray laser carriage from Psxboy.com for $30.
2. Order Aixiz module from Mfgcn.com or their ebay store for ~$4.
3. Buy 9v battery.
4. Search the forum for Daedal circuit (AKA DDL circuit)
5. Buy all items from Radio SHack or electronics store of choice, Digikey online.
6. You should get aixiz mod in a couple days, pop out the red diode
7. Build your DDL circuit, and put it in host/case of your choice.
8. When blu-ray sled arrives, remove the diode. You will have to cut a ribbon cable, remove a couple screws, either cut with a utility knife or desolder the little frame that hold the diode, and cut through the glue witha razor.
9. Press blu-ray into aixiz mod, solder up to ddl circuit, close up case.
10. ???
11. Profit

7. Build your DDL circuit, and put it in host/case of your choice.

More additions in this area of the list....

7a) Test your circuit to make sure it is doing what it is meant to do.

(For blue ray replace the 4 diodes with a 100 ohm resistor)

Before starting 8) earth yourself... as these diodes are susceptible to static damage.

ok well, so far all i know is that i need the blu-ray diode which has to come from a PS3 set-up, an axiz module, and a 9 volt battery. i need a part list for the driver and perhaps an elementary map of how to connect them. i know how to solder wire, but when it comes to the order and pattern of assembly, i cant understand it, I've seen a blurry picture of a driver assembly but it was so crappy i couldn't read it, could anyone help me out?

Here's a parts list from radioshack, just replace the 10 ohm resistors with a pack of 33 ohm, and choose the rheostat instead of the 1k ohm pot.

thanks for that list man. that should help a lot when it comes time to go shopping for that. now all i need to figure out is how to put all that stuff together...

Have you not read all of the Threads of Interest? I would suggest reading all of those before anything else. In any case though, this one from there should help you the most. Just sub the 2 10-ohm resisitors with a 33 ohm for the blu.

Ok well I went out today and bought all the parts except for the module and the diode. I was wondering which Aixiz module would work with this project.

Sweet. Ok so I have:
LM317T Regulator
25-ohm Rheostat
33 ohm resistors
Dual PC board w/ 213 holes
47uf Capacitor
IN4001 Diode
A project box
And a link to the right AIXIZ module.

so I'm guessing all I'm missing right now is a momentary switch, a blu-ray diode, and the ability to put it all together on the circuit board? Yes?

And btw thanks for all the help guys, I'm really excited to get to work on this project.

hmm, i wonder how im gonna get all that into my project box.... i'll only need one side of the PC board right?

What project box are you using, post a link. And you only solder things to the side where the little rings are, i.e. you place the pins of the LM317T through the side with no rings, then you solder them on the side where they come out of onto the copper rings.

EDIT: Ooops, I thought you were asking something else, yeah you can use as much of the board as you need to, then when you're done soldering you can cut off all of the space that's left.

Its a simple 4x2x1" black box I got from Radioshack. Didnt think I would need anything bigger, but with the board on one side, and the battery, aixiz module, and rheostat all on the other side, im not sure it will all fit.

oh and it looks a lot longer and skinnier in the picture than it is in real life. its more wide and shorter.
