Hey,

I need a laser with male threads that I can screw into a bolt. The bolt is only 1/2 inch so I's like to keep the thread o.d around 2/8 maybe 3/8.

The laser can be any color and would only need to to travel about 4'.

Email me with any suggestions you might have.

It would be best to email me.

Don't bolts usually screw INTO nuts?

Also, poor form to leave your email and expect someone to contact you directly outside of the forum.

To answer your question. 0.5 inches is a bit over 12mm, so you might be able to fit an aixiz module into a half inch diameter nut. Aixiz modules aren't threaded on their outside though, so you'll need to conquer that hurdle on your own depending on the nature of your application.

There is PLENTY of wisdom on this forum about Aixiz modules, their sizes, etc. Good luck in your searching :)

Hey,

I have bored a 1/8 hole through the bolt. I can not screw a 1/2 object into a 1/2 bolt.

Like I stated before I'd like it to be somewhere around 2/8 to 3/8.

Oh god, you're not putting a laser on a Go-Kart are you?

If you are looking for more than one I can help you, if not you might want to find someone else with a lathe. That's going to be just about the only way to make this happen.

Hey,
Lol Na I need to use it for a tool I'm making. I was hoping with all of everyone's experience on this site I could get some help

Well you could tap a 9mmx0.5mm thread for the lens into one end of your bolt, and
drill a 5.6mm socket for the diode in the other end. Then the bolt is your module.
The smallest widely available laser modules are ~12mm....
EDIT:
Oh look, a 9mm module.
That should almost fit 3/8 with a little effort.

How hard would it be to put that laser in something that will help contain the batteries and an on/off switch?

Lol. Sorry.

I'm putting this in the king pin bolt. The purpose is to get where the tire should be to get zero scrub.

The picture shows the kingpin.

I'll bore a 1/8 hole through the king pin. I'd like to be able to thread the laser into the king pin.

Ideally the laser will be self contained and when I need it I'll just screw it in. When I'm done I'll just take it out.

I guess It wouldn't have to be threaded.. I could just make it a tight fit.

Since the laser is a crosshair would it work since it will be projected through a 1/8 hole about 5'' long?

If it's just a model for display, fine, but you wouldn't want to drive around in something
that had it's kingpin hollowed out!:eek:

These karts only weigh 350ish. The bolt will be plenty strong enough. The bolt has already been load tested bored out.

I might, but you might not like my prices :p

You might ask Mohrenberg, he is really good with one off things like this.

Custom machine work like that usually isn't cheap though. I'm sure you know that!
