Hello, i am not new to lasers but i am new to building your own and all the different diodes available. I am starting to like the A140 diode, but im open to all suggestions. I am looking for a blue or violet laser, something with great beam visibality, and high burning potential. Everthing really relies on the cost since this experiment is on a low budget. Roughly how much would it run for something in the 500mw to 1000mw range, not assembled just the diode, axiz module, and heatsint? I can provide a driver and host. Would anyone out there be willing to piece something together for me, i just need the diode with leads soldered on, attached to heat sink, and axiz module. If so what would be your price. And could anybody point me in the right direction for a diode with 1w of power in the previosly stated specs, a matching heatsink, and axiz module? Thank you very much in advanced!

hello. first of all, welcome to the LPF.
if you are new to building lasers, you should study it a little, and look on some sites about the safety of operating (or building) a laser. if you want a high burn potential, you could try the old 'dvd burner' laser, the price can go as low 5 bucks (if you have everything, and only needs the aixiz module). if you want beam visibility, try a green laser (building one from scratch is very hard for a starter, buy one assembled).

I do not recommend you to start on the blue one. These require a high understanding of electronics and safety goggles.

I'll be glad to help in anything I can.

PS: low budget + 500mw to 1000mw : near impossible.

EDIT: all lasers over 5mw require laser goggles. lol

Thanks guys, i am very aware of the dangers involved in this hobby, and safety is an essential with any laser experiment, ive experimented with a few dvd burner diodes, and plenty of red/green lasers but i am ready to step up to something more powerful, and would like to try blue/violet. When i stated cheap all i meant was the cheapest way to do this. I am aware that im am probably going to spend a couple hundred bucks. I just needed a few suggestions on .5w-1w diodes and heatsinks. Ive read every thread on here about building your first laser, and i am ready to start buying parts. And thanks for the link udanis! That is perfect. If i can find something a little higher powered i wouldnt mind spending a little extra, and building it myself.

Well you can purchase the diode/module together and buy a driver separately.

HighTechDealZ - 445nm 1W (1000mW) Blue Brand New Laser Diode in Aixiz Module

They'll even preset the current so all you have to do is solder a few wires

Ha beat me to it! That diode/module is what im gonna use. Im just not sure if i want to spent the money on a driver, when i can whip one up for a couple of bucks. I plan on using 18650's since i have almost 20 laying around and i gotta get rid of some. Thanks again!

Well.... If you can find someone to sell you a 445nm diode in an aixiz that has leads, attached to a micro drive which also has leads on it..
Then you could build a laser with my kit listed in the signature. You'd just have to solder the + lead to the PCB that comes with the flashlight.

Hey, you should also consider getting some really cheap BURNING diodes from this group-buy that is running right now.

Compared to the price you pay for ONE 445 you can get 10 red/violet ones. These are good for practice too, i've killed 3 $5 diodes already:)

He wanted a class 4 laser and the only one of those that comes close if the LPC and that will do around 300mW
