Need help finding laptop.

Just some trivia: Ubuntu version numbers are related to when they came out, 9.10 came out in 2009, in the 10th month. It's not 9.1, that's why 9.10 came after 9.4

Of course it's not for everyone. It's not for the people who are too closed-minded to try. Everyone in my family uses Ubuntu. Including my 7-year old sister and my grandparents, all of whom know very, very little about computers.

Also, you think that he shouldn't even try?

... It's not for the people who are too closed-minded to try...

Dont be a smart a$$ you wont get anybody to try it with that approach. Second I stated more than once it was MY opinion. He is looking for a laptop and this thread has been hijacked time to get back on topic.

If you still want to force feed your opinion to someone MSN me bryan6699@hotmail.com

So, it's okay for you to state your opinion, but it's totally unacceptable for me to "force feed" mine? Oh, and I'm force feeding my opinion and the fact that you have been asking me questions is totally irrelevant. I'm sorry that my force fed opinion was based on my experience that everyone I know who was open-minded about Linux loved it, and the closed-minded people who I know that tried it didn't like it.

On topic: Scotty, if you want to try something new, you can ask ask me, and IIRC, ninja_tux's sig says that he's fine with being PM'ed with questions. I am too.

So basically you can only be an open-minded person if you like linux and if you dont like it you MUST be closed minded!? I get so sick of the linux and windows debate the truth of the matter is you either like it or you dont try it and find out but if you know zaery and you dont like it you must be closed minded

Go learn about correlation and causation before you try coming to comclusions like that. This is a good place to start.

On topic: Scotty, the eeePC is a pretty nice little laptop, it'd be great for some web-surfing, and maybe some flash games. I just suggest getting one of the larger ones, unless you have small hands, I couldn't type easily on the 7-9 inch models.

I dare you guys to try Ubuntu 9.10 for a few hours and tell me it isn't user-friendly. The only reason I've seen for people to not switch to Linux is an unwillingness to try something new.

PS: Just out of curiosity KillerB, what distro?

got it installed on my ps3, its pretty fast and not that much less user friendly then windows

If you are still looking for a decent gaming laptop, i know a few people who use this with decent results.
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5542G-5281 NoteBook AMD Turion II M500(2.2GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR2 667 320GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 - Laptops / Notebooks
Dont expect to play crisis but this from Starcraft to cod 4 2 should be all playable with decent graphics.
As far as OS is i am a student so i get a free version of win 7, but another good alternative is Xandros 4, i have ran it in the past and liked it very much.
but that is my thoughts.
