So after killing my first PHR, I ordered 2 phr sleds. Just received them.

I took one apart, took out the phr and cut the ribbon cable.

Whats the best / safest way to remove the diode from the heat sink ???

EDIT: I figured it out!!!! After examining the heat sink, I noticed the 2 weak points.

So I just broke them by twisting the heat sink with 2 pliers !!!

EDIT 2: How do I press the diode in the module!!!!!!!!! I can't get it in lol

you can try the blob method or the slowly lift pcb board a little at a time method
i practiced on the 4 pin red /ir diode looks like you have three to try before you try the bluray one

Yeah, sounds like you figured it out, but the heatsink is a magnesium alloy, so it is REALLY brittle. Grab it with 2 pliers, and wiggle them back and forth. Don't even try to bend the heatsink metal, just wiggle it back and forth, and it'll crack on its own.

This is a method for pressing the diode in the aixiz module ???

How does it work ?????

Btw, I dont have a diode press :(

Any other way ??

there are several ways a small 1/4 inch drive socket a pair of pliers (this takes a little skill) or just buy a pre installed one and save a lot of trouble

Can you explain how that works ???

I tried to use a vice grip to hold the aixiz module extension tube and use the tube to push down on the diode. (The pins go through the hole)

Turns out I can't push down on it hard enough lol

Is it safe to hit the module with a hammer ??????? Seriously lol

EDIT3: GOT IT!! Used 2 channel locks to press it in. 1 on each side of diode. :)

Make sure it's pressed all the way into the module. The diode should sit slightly below the surface, not just flush with it.

Hmm, I couldnt get it below the surface. It's flush.....

Will it affect it ????
