Townes is still alive at the age of 96, and Schawlow passed away in 1999.

Very cool! There's actually a LOT of really good videos on that site.. not just about lasers either. For example, the transistor was invented at Bell labs, and there are videos on that topic.

I will have a browse of the content.. I also found this one.. Pretty funny
looking back to the technology of the 80's.. Seems to be around the time where
great leaps were beginning to be made.

You must be relatively young... or haven't watched to many documentaries from the 50's and 60's. They always use music like that. I think the intent was to be exciting, and futuristic... not C grade horror movie

Yeah it's especially prominent in the Lasers Unlimited video due to the sci-fi references throughout.
