I would try, with a q tip, it should work. good thing is 9mm diode windows are bigger, and therefore easier to clean. I've done it many times. 3.8mm diodes like the 520 osram are a PITA
Thanks. I tried with just a q-tip to no avail. So I tried dipping one end in 91% isopropyl alcohol and wiped with that end plus the dry end. Then I used a squeeze bottle to blow on it. That worked, looks much better.
