Anyone feel like taking a chance?

The auction title says Blue/Violet, but the actual listing unreassuringly says "We do not know the output Power and Wavelength"

If anyone wants to start up a GB, I'd be in for one or two.

These are already being discussed. I'll find a link in a moment. The scuttlebutt on alt.lasers is that these are IR transceivers NOT blue/violet diodes.

Peace,
dave

I think a question to the seller is in order here....... ;)

*Edit....Done, as follows

You state in the header that these are violet blue laser diodes, yet in the text you say that the output power (mw) and wavelength (nm) are unknown....

I find this a bit confusing especially as the only info I have found on the web seems to say that they are IR laser diodes.....
Could you please confirm which information is correct.

There are a couple of things that make me think the output is low on these. First, there are 4 pins, I have yet to see a higher power diode (2x,4x,6x, & 803t) have more than 3 pins. I would guess that the fourth is for red or possibly IR.

Second, the manufacture date is 2005, from what ive read, most of the bluray sales for movies and players and of course the PS3 were released in 2006. That would lead me to believe that these diodes were developed for the first readers. I could be wrong, but at worst they are probably 5mW,and at $9 a pop its not a bad price. I just wouldnt get my hopes up for a burning blu.

They're infra red diodes. The seller has no idea what he has.

You're mean [smiley=evil.gif]

I like that in a person :P

I noticed :) I guess I should have put, if they were 405's, simply going by the characteristics provided on the page.
