my new record of opened tabs

one annoying thing that happens to me sometimes is a voice will start talking or music or advertisement will start playing, then i have to go through all 20+ tabs and figure out which one it is. Usually I'll have to refresh them all.
one time I had an episode of the adams family playing, overlapping eachother 8 times. I could not find which tab it was coming from, and it turned out to be 2 megaupload tabs. Funny thing was it was hidden, it was just the audio of the episode, and it was only 2 megaupload tabs it was coming from, but sounded like about 8 overlaps (I could tell there was 8 because the characters and sounds would repeat themselves about 8 times while the previous sound continued to play, it was terrible!)

On average 1 or 2. I have LPF open always and usually one for FB. If I open a third it for all my miscellaneous browsing. I don't like clutter so when I have more than 5 open at a time it tends to bug me. LOL

So when you see multiple threads of interest you don't click on them all at once? you browse one at a time and then use the back button to continue on to the next?? blasphemy!

LOL

...and I thought I was bad. I generally have ~15 tabs opened per browser with a max 2-3 browsers open. Just so I can read each tab, I don't know how you can manage all those tabs mikeey.

In that case I just mute the whole PC haha No really, Opera has a solution for this too ;) CTRL+tab and here you see a miniature of the tabs :D

Regarding the amount of tabs, my problem is that I automatically start to close them once I have no more than 10. This is because when Opera invented the tab browsing, the client couldn't handle more than 5 or 6, or maybe it was the pentium III with 256MB who couldn't, but anyway, you were risking a blue screen if you went with more.

Now I just tested and I had like a hundred of them and everything was working fine, but well, my instinct makes me close them, which constantly leads me to click the "recover closed tabs" button constantly.

About the back button, there's dust on it lol, I always use the mouse button combinations for that, and the ctrl+t ctrl+w to open and close them. Mouse geastures aren't that good on the laptop touchpad :D

I usually keep up to 3 firefox windows open, each with about 15 or tabs open on them, for all the pages full of parts and whatnot that I'm needing. The tabs have turned into items on a shopping list anymore...

T_T usually 200+ in firefox and 25-30 in chrome.... I read...a lot...if I bookmark it and close it..I usually never make it back to it

what I see whenever I boot up firefox...the list goes on for a while...

WOW...you guys are all insane.

I use Windows 7 Internet Explorer and I hate it.
When I get up to about 10 tabs it really starts lagging...badly. It really shouldn't do that.
64bit system
q6600 oc 3.0ghz Quad core
4 gig ddr3

Could it just be that IE sucks that much?

Also, when you guys are using tabed browsing in FF or O does windows 7 areo still work? Does it show all of the tabs or just the one on top?
I tried Opera and I can't get areo to work....I love areo.

lol no I meant the back button at the top of the browser.
I've never quite understood gestures. One annoying thing that happens in opera is I'll accidently click both the left and right mouse buttons at once and then it randomly clicks a link on the page.. I don't understand this.

I wasn't aware there was a "recover closed tabs" button, I've always just used ctrl+z to get my tabs back lol.

yes!!!!!!!!!

completly agreed. I think you all know what my opinion is about anything that is not Opera (or at least chrome).

@Iskor: I'm also using Windows 7 64 bits and yes, aero works for me (why shouldn't it). What's exactly the problem? You open Opera and Windows turns off the aero? It's the strangest thing I ever heard!

@mikeey: you should take a read at my signature link. If you're already a happy Opera user you'll be amazed ;) (How could you survive without that button lol, what if you need to reopen a tab you closed an hour ago xD) If you're not gonna read them, then know that what's happening when pressing both buttons is that you're going to next/back depending on which of them you have pressed first. btw, try to hold right button and use the scroll (life-saver lol)

No, it doesn't turn it off....however when you hover over the Opera logo when it's open...it only shows a preview of the current top page you are on and not all of your tabs.....

I will post a picture to explain

A few years ago, there was a Wikipedia vandal who called himself "Willy on Wheels" that caused a lot of trouble by moving pages to nonsensical titles (usually "<page name> on wheels"). He did this by loading many Firefox tabs, setting up the page moves and performing all of the moves at once. (I think he was able to vandalize over 200 pages with one of his accounts.) "Willy" was able to vandalize many, many pages before being blocked, and things got so bad that admins had to use bots to block him!

I'll be waiting for that ;)

Ok.

This is Aereo with IE and Several Tabs open when I hover my mouse over the IE logo on the bottom of my task bar.

You see the difference? With IE it shows all of my open tabs. With Opera, It doesn't

Oh, I see what you're talking about. With Opera this works another way: ctrl+tab

This is not the "aero", it's just the windows 7 interface. Since it has been released recently, by now only the Microsoft software supports integration with this (Msn, IE and the own windows explorer). I expect software developers to migrate their applications to this new interface, however I wouldn't expect a multi-platform software like Opera to do it. Opera works the same in all the systems: Linux, Windows, MAC, Solaris...

If you really want to use this feature, take the tabs out of the main application to creat new instances of Opera, then it will work, however I would stay with the Opera tabs management system. There are many ways to manage them:

1.-click on them
2.-ctrl+tab
3.-mouse right button+scroll

And then, if you really want the miniatures, just make the tabs bar bigger ;)
