So it is as visible as 100 mW green?
You sure got longer nm diode then...

I only dealt with PHRs so far, and they are nowhere near my 50 mW greenie.

i just notice now that th green starts more visible and then weakens.also keep in mind that my blu-ray is about 5 times more powerful than a PHR at 100mA.i have a host/heatsink that is for green modules,so i will buy an o-like 100mW module and check again.

I know that it is way more powerful... that is why I am droolin' over half watt bluray :D

Although I think that 100 mW should overpower 1 W bluray in therms of visibility anyhow.
 
I will try to take some comparison beam shots later. I can tell you though that my 120mW green is brighter to the eye than this 430mW blu-ray. And also the green beam 'looks' tighter/smaller than the blu-ray.

Hell yeah, you can never have tight beam with bluray (I mean, you can but you cannot see it that way).

It is too bad that is appears so fuzzy in the eyes... It is one badass color of laser, my fav!
 
Finally here are some beam shots of my laser. Its been crazy busy @ work and never found the time. I took these @ work with my phone(HTC Hero 5.0MP). It was about 25F degrees and very light snow.


That last pic is taken parallel with the beam about 8 feet away from aperture.

Violet light scatters more easily in the air than green so the beam looks bigger. Then add to that our eyes' difficulty focusing on a wavelength so close to invisible UV and you get a wide "looking" beam.

. . . .and sometimes a headache when you first start playing with one :wtf:

It is very weird how our eyes perceive the blu-ray light. If you view the beam from the side from a distance it looks like a 'wide' beam. But as you get closer it starts to shrink to a 'normal' size. In the pic above when I was beaming the side of that UPS trailer the dot looked huge, but the camera shows its actual size.
