The problem with testing that is no guarantee of any resupply in the case they actually do fail... though I would really like to see that too.

I'm also just as curious about what kind of diodes are gonna be showing up in the next couple years. The 445's have been "live" since 2010... 4 years isn't much time to get where we are here and now... I want ~480-485nm.

I've got a couple more of these coming, so that I can spectro and cherry pick myself the highest. With one of the "not-highest", I'll try taking the current up to... maybe 2.6, 2.7... if I'm really adventurous, 2.8.

I thought I was being adventurous at 2.0A, but with everybody out there pushing these harder I may have to up the current. :D

Is that host stainless or just REALLY nicely finished aluminum? It looks like stainless but that could be the lighting. Also how does it feel weight-wise? I'm thinking about throwing together a 1W@445 in stainless.
It's actually aluminum, so it is pretty light! Ehgemus did a nice job on the polishing!

Holy freaking crap balls! That's insane! And just think.. As little as a year ago people were still paying $300+ for a 5mW 473nm... We have come so far..
It's crazy how far this hobby has progressed. In the past we would get a cool new laser diode about once a year, and now they are coming out so quickly I can't possibly buy them all!

@Styropyro. Iv been watching your YouTube videos since video 1. Fantastic builds all of them. With this build, you have made the laser iv dreamed about lol iv been waiting for the day this wavelength would be in laser form. Hopefully the price on the diode drops soon because i want it !!!. im so jealous of you its not even funny especially when you got those 476nm aqua engineering samples.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy the videos and the builds! Hopefully you get the opportunity to build a laser around this wavelength soon.

I wonder if these could hit over 473nm.....
It would be a stretch...but awesome if it happened. Imagine 2W of 473nm

Dunno about 2W with the power drop on the graph (since it apparently is already happening at 2.4A), but 1W of >473nm may... may just be possible.

Well, at least in Isaac's case it's ~2W within 5nm of 473nm. I think that counts ;)

Stunning laser, inside & outside like:drool:. This great share hand in hand with the recent introduction of the 462nm wavelength diode makes me want one as well. But must resist for now, first yellow, blue shall follow sooner or later...

:thanks: for showing up this marvellous Ehgemus - styropyro tandem project!

With mine it would be closer to 2.1W if I put a G lens instead. And only 4nm away....not that I am counting or anything....(I am). :p Right now only 1.6-1.7W though.

Excellent work.

I want one!! How much to bulid one for a member needing same?
