My Monster 6+ watt Laser Build Has Started !

You should have plenty of room to fold down your mains after you attach some smaller wire for your driver connections, it's because of these compact size builds in my pic that everyone starts with super flexible wire out of habit, because there's very little space after the batteries in these compact builds for everything to get packed into.

I like both the working class and the dress up pocket class of builds, but for putting a burner to work I like big and battleship sturdy as I'm sure you do.

EDIT: P.S. That 25mm copper module is nice, but it will get hot in a minute as that 44 makes about 16 watts of waste heat when driven at 4.5 amps, are you attaching it to additional heat sinking or just the host body?

I'm not sure, I took it off a old R/C car Ni-Cd battery pack, That battery tech is ancient but the wire is some of the best !

Oh ya, I've been there, Done that many times !

I understand what your saying and what the task is at hand, Please understand that I have a stereo microscope with a micro tip soldering station right next to it plus I have 30 years of experience of soldering everything from 200 amp alternators with a 1.5KW HotSpot and carbon probe on the high end, And down to soldering work on Bulova Accutron 214 movement coil assys.....

Please believe me when I say I Can Handle it... Because I can.......
Looking forward to your review. Btw you should add that exp to your profile if you haven't. If you can make a clean solder to the driver with those wires, hats off to ya. Someone just getting into this hobby without your experience would destroy that driver with those wires trying to. I wouldn't attempt it with my limited experience. So far I have been able to perform the normal hobby type soldering jobs rather cleanly. Happy lasing sir.

Edit: I completely forgot about the new Blackbuck drivers. I immediately thought of the ones I have.

If you are buying the 25mm module with driver and lens installed and pre-wired from DTR as in the images in you original post/#1 post then all you have to do is connect you wire ends to the pre-wired driver wire ends and put a ittle heat shrink tubing or tape over the junction.

You can adjust the length to fit the situation
Exactly ! :thanks:

There has been a change in the batteries I'm going to use in my green monster, The batteries i'll now be using are 2 each Feiyu Icr 22650 3000mAh 3.7V Li-Ion Batteries.

I think the wires I'm using appear larger than they really are when just seen poking out of my host, here is a laser driver next to the same size wire that my host has.....

And that still has the insolation on it, Does that make it look a lot more manageable ?

For a little more perspective here is the wire I'm using in my host along with the super cheap wire that's in my $50 "Thor" laser....

Plus my host's wires are a little "fluffed up", just before I go to solder them i'll twist them down tight.....

EDIT - I'm thinking of using a 25mm 4W NUBM07E 465nm instead ? RE-EDIT - Nope I dropped that idea because I don't like the issue with the removal of the G-Ball exposing delicate parts.....

Update - Well I finished my host with the last piece being the screw-on adapter that I will press into it the 6W NUBM44 450nm 25mm Copper Laser Module W/Blackbuck Laser Driver that I will buy from DTR's Laser Shop which I had to put on hold until the first of next month due to money constants.

I added a very small set screw to keep the screw-on adapter in place just to be sure.....

When I get the Laser Module from DTR i'll do a finishing resize of the I.D. of the screw-on adapter just to be sure the Laser Module presses in with the right amount of interference fit......

I wanted to use a set of Feiyu Icr 22650 3000mAh 3.7V Li-Ion Batteries to power it......

So I ordered a set from "HobbyWow" but they sent me an email stating....

Sorry for my late reply. Thanks for contacting us.We tried to arrange your shipment ,but the carrier told us he can't make the delivery only with batteries to your country.Would you like add a small quadcopter ,then we can ship out together, or change other parts?what do you think ?Sorry for the inconvenience.Looking forward to hearing from you .

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing ? Add a small quadcopter ??? Really ???

So I tried that and contacted them to tell them it was done and to ship them out together and got no reply in 3 days so I sent them another email, and another a day latter, and another a day latter, and one more a day latter and I got no response from them to any of my emails so I said the heck with that and filed a paypal case against them and i'll see what that does to light a candle under their $#@ !

UPDATE - Well the paypal claim seems to have had an affect and I just now received this !

Thanks for contacting us. We're now processing your order . We will add your two orders and ship out together in two days.
Any other question, don't hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards
Crystal
Hobbywow

So I guess we'll see if they get them shipped !

So I found these no-name batteries......

With these specs....

LiNiMnCo Rechargeable 22650 Cell: 3.7V 2500 mAh with a Discharging current Standard of 1.5C (3.75A); Pulse (30 sec) : 3C (7.5A)

I think they will be Ok for the time being until I can find something better and I have a few leads on some better IMR high drain batteries but it's going to take some time to get them in my hands, Well that's it for now and i'll have more after the end of the month.........

A trick I use is this: If I have a post Tuesday and new info Wednesday but nobody has posted since me yet the thread is off the list, then I just double post by adding Wednesdays post, then I go back and copy all of Tuesdays info and EDIT Tuesday info into Wednesdays post and then go back and delete Tuesdays post, Now I have 1 New post at the top of the list without a double post, I do include an ------EDIT------ between the 2 sets to show that new info was added, now if I had just added to Tuesdays post then it would not go to the top of the list or be seen until someone else posted.

I don't mind seeing a thread back at the top with new info, it's not like we are super busy here, but it is good etiquette to combine doubles and triples, just add the ----edit---- line to show what you did......BUT Don't do it just to put the same old info back up top with a new (.) or something trivial, use it to show new sharable info.

p.s. I think what I said is permitted, but I would not abuse the technique or it may become against a rule.

I tried to +rep you but I can't yet. :banghead:

DECLAIMER FOR diachi - I don't want to hear your "I've warned you about double posting" and for two good reasons.....

#1 there are times when what you call "double posting" is appropriate which is if there is a large update of information added to the thread and if a "double post" was not used nobody would ever see it unless they just happened to check the now older thread that's down on the thread list to see if anything new might have been added (which most nobody does).

And #2 you are not a moderator and you have no business issuing warning to anyone like "I've warned you before" or "This is your last warning" so save your threats because I don't want to hear them again from you !

This will be a rare assurance and you will not dictate to me when it will happen, If you can be Ok with that then we have no problem what so ever and everything is good and you should just disregard this disclaimer.

Thank you for your time.

Steve

No need for the disclaimer, there's a time and a place for double posts. Two weeks apart is perfectly reasonable, two minutes isn't. I'm not going to complain when someone bumps a thread, even without new information, as long as it's within reason. In this case, it's well within reason.

I've been on here for 9 years. I understand how it works, I don't need you to explain it to me.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for me - and anyone else - to tell people not to double post and ignore etiquette. I'm just making sure etiquette is followed and I think we all have a duty to help enforce that, as well as the site rules. It makes the forum cleaner and can reduce the workload on moderators.

That said, I still don't like your attitude.

Good luck with your build, looks like it'll be nice.

LOL, I swear Accutronitis defiant attitude is reminiscent of Visible Greens.

Yeah, although it could be purely coincidental. Better to give the benefit of the doubt I think.

And I have no problem with that, But since we are being honest I just don't think you have any business issuing warning to other member and you should limit that duty to friendly reminders and stay far away from the "You've been warned before" territory seeing as you are just a member here just like anyone else here, That's your attitude here I don't much like.

I'm a really big fan of treat people as they treat you so if you don't much like the way I'm treating you, you might what to stop and give some thought back to what you've said in the past.......

And I don't think you have any business telling me what to post either. I give warnings to people to help them fit in with the community and to prevent trouble before mods get involved, like in your case, where you refused to listen and mods got involved. Yet, here you are, keeping the argument going. I'll end it. You're on ignore.

Don't be ridiculous, I'm not telling you what to post but I'm only suggesting what NOBODY here should post other than moderators BUT you are suturing the pot as much as anyone here by dishing out inflammatory posts and then expecting no response to that AND when someone does respond to your inflammatory posts you clam "you refused to listen" and you don't see that behave as troll like in any way ?

Well after some warnings from a few members here that have a 6W NUBM44 and how much heat they can make I decided to add some cooling so heat will never be a limiting factor, With the 6W NUBM44 450nm 25mm Copper Laser Module pressed into this new heat sink I don't think heat will ever be an issue now !

HAHHA  wow man that thing is ridiculous...i love it haha it is now truly "the monster"
lol it's like a lion's mane !

Latter on I can always turn it down smaller but I don't think heat will be an issue......
