OP posted some links to his album on CPF, so I took a look and I saw that.

So I linked and commented.

Sorry for confusion!

DOOOODE

This is all your light?!

You gotta be kidding me!

+rep from me also on OP!
Gotta turn more of them into lasers, darkzero!!

Yes those are all mine. Most (but not all) of the others in the other galleries are mods I have done for others.

Thanks for the welcoming. Wow you counted all of them in that pic, 98 huh? That pic is probably 2 years old, many more have came & gone but not much have gone as I tend not to sell them. The last time I counted I think I was at 130+ but I have sold some since then. 99% never leave the house cause I'm afraid to scratch them. Many people have told me I do need counseling. Ya whatever, there are people that are far worse than I am.

Here's another pic of them:

hey ,
how much was your mini lahte?
cheers

My mini is $699USD regular price. I got it on sale & used a 20% off coupon & got it for $358 w/ tax out the door. But that was just for the lathe only & did not include the backsplash, larger chuck, QCTP, tooling, etc. The chuck alone used cost more than the lathe ($1k new).

Its a very nice build indeed!

I like the finned-all-over design - it might not be 100% useful, but it sure looks like it is. Is it good enough to run cw without heating up problematically?

My thoughts exactly. Could never understand the usefulness of a high powered laser & justfy the time to make something like this. That has changed a bit now so I'll do more.

I built this one with the intention of having decent life. I see that people recommend 90-100ma for PHRs to have decent life? So paired with good heatsinking I hope 110ma might still be a good compromise?

The Aixiz module is epoxied to the heatsink with thermal epoxy. I also potted the back of the diode & the driver with thermal epoxy. The brass contact can is also epoxied to the heatsink with thermal epoxy. Heat would also be disappated from the front of the heatsink contacting the head & from the brass can making ground contact to the body.

That is one FINE chuck. O_O I want one. Very nice.

I know the price is scary but aside from being absolutelty drop dead gorgeous, the chuck is of very high quality & well worth the money. With the Set-Tru, TIR is guaranteed to be 0.0004", I'm getting about 0.0002". Once you use one you'll want nothing else. I love it so much I got one for the new lathe, bigger & brand new this time at just about $1K.

Tool Envy Syndrome is so hard to cope with some times.

I'm very interested in an aluminum make of that exact host. Would you be willing to make one? Send me a PM so we can talk :)
