Hey guys, Well it's been a good couple weeks getting everything together and I'm pretty much done with my first labby. Here's some specs :

8x blu ray diode from LG 8x burner.
rckstr driver running at 300mA.
Diode is pressed in an aixiz module.
405-G-1 lens
Don't know the mw output as I do not have a LPM(yet). But it does start smoking skin on contact with the beam haha.

The heatsink isn't the most aesthetically pleasing but as far as I can see it does the job. I have a flexdrive on the way so it's just OEM style right now and I'm going to put it into a nice small host once I get everything else. Any suggestions for host or comments are of course always welcome. Now for some sweet beam shots ! (Sorry for horrible quality iPhone resolution)

You trust your power source not to spike and blow the diode!?!:tinfoil:

Peace,
dave

Not really XP I'm weary every time I turn it on but I got the diode for free so even if it does I loose nothing haha

Haha I thought so too. Any suggestions for the power source / housing I should use ? I was going to just throw some batteries into a radio shack project box but that seems a little played out don't you think ? haha .

Go to the Laser Pro Shop board. There are several hosts offered there.

Peace,

COOL!!! If I were you I'd leave it looking like that!! Somehow it looks retro 1950-60's to me. Very cool.

Haha I actually was thinking the same thing I was just going to put the driver and a power source into a project box or something and just leave it the way it is haha.
:thanks:

tHat way, when tech evolves enough to finnaly provide a stable and small portable power source for something with a high power consumption like this, AND you find yourself in the 1800's you can whip THAT out and say "this town ain't big enough for the two of us"
LOL :D

haha thanks ! I bought a cheapy CPU heatsink at Frys and took it to a local machinist and had him drill out a perfect hole since the tools I had couldn't make it through.. But after I used a bandsaw to trim the outter fins to make it a little more stationary lol

lol yes I'm sure it is we'll have to test it out with your LPM when we meet up soon and we might be able to give the info to FrancoRob to put on the chart. It'll be some useful info added to the chart IMO. Thanks Glenn ! :D
