So, I went to the post office to go pick up my DX order, and slapped in the batteries into the true green 5mW. I was seriously amazed by the brightness of the laser! Most of you would be like..."5mW?? Thats so low!" but I have never seen a laser this bright. Its my first green laser, and definitely not my last. Compared to my 5mw red pet-store laser, it blows it away! After ~1 hour of playing with the laser, I had thought the batteries in my red laser were dead.
Anyway, just for fun, I tried a couple of the tests I see here. I can't burn through a trash-bag, but if I color a bubble of the red bubble wrap with sharpie, and hold the laser next to a magnifying glass, I can burn holes through the sharpie-coated bubble-wrap. Just from this, I doubt this is 5mW. Hopefully when my 50mW module arrives, I'll be even more amazed. Also, outside with no fog, I can see the beam perfectly. If I had gotten this a week earlier when there was a fog advisory here, I can't imagine how good this would have looked!
Just thought I would let the forum know about my first green laser.
