Hello experienced members of LPF;
I'm finally going to build my own blu-ray :)

But, to be at the safe side, I'd like to know your opinions. Would these work great you think?

(http://modwerx.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_2&products_id=12) phr-803t diode in focusing aixiz module
(http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.722) two cr123a 3.6v batteries
(http://rkcstr.nfshost.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=180) rckstr driver @ 125mA
(http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15969) c6 cree flashlight

Thanks, and have a nice day

EDIT: Ignore this; I'm going with these instead:
1 x phr-803t in aixiz module
1 x heatsink for sku.46 by jayrob
1 x host: http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.46
1 x flexdrive @ 100mA

I'm NOT an expert, but I think I see two mistakes,
1. Two 3.6 V's would maybe not provide enough power. At least not their full charge..
2. You would need a heatsink at that current

2 cr2's 10440's or cr123a's or even 2 18650's if you have that host  will work  i use them up to 140 mw no problem
but very short duty cycles

@Grix: I think it'll peak at 4.2V, not too sure. I'm 99% sure it'll be enough, as the phr-803t-diode needs atleast ~7V. I'll not use this to burn stuff, so I don't need an heatsink. I'll use my 200mW red for burning.

@John: Ok thanks for the information.

Both of you, thanks for your help.

The heatsink has nothing to do with you burning stuff, it has to do with how long you plan on running it for. If you're not using a heatsink, you'll have to limit your duty cycle (ask some1 else for how long - i always use a heatsink of some sort, so i wouldn't know). Also, you're supposed to have around 9V for the PHR-803t if you're using a driver like the rkcstr. I believe you CAN get by using two RCR123a, but it might not light too long (may only light when fully charged).

Thats just what i think some1 else can confirm or reject what I said.

To confirm, 2 lithium batteries can run a Rckstr driver powering a violet diode at 125mA, and you will need to buy or make a heatsink for that host. A heatsink holds the module in the right place and drains heat from the diode as fast as possible. The hotter a diode is the shorter its lifespan will be, and if it gets hot enough it will be damaged very quickly. This is why many lasers have a "duty cycle", to keep temperatures in acceptable limits. Also, you might want to look into "protected" batteries, since Lithium batteries are permanently damaged if you over-charge or over-discharge them, and the Rckstr driver will not protect from either of these!

If you want, PM me and I will be able to sell you a PHR diode in an Aixiz module for less than that price. If you are willing to wait, and it turns out to be popular, I could even sell you it with a pre-soldered driver, but for now all I have is PHRs pushed into modules.

I learned alot more about blu-rays and how they work so I bought these a few days ago:

1 x phr-803t in aixiz module
1 x heatsink for sku.46 by jayrob
1 x host: http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.46
1 x flexdrive @ 100mA

Thanks guys, ignore my previous posts. Now I know how they work!
