My Favorite Element - Neodymium

yeah i know, sorry, i talk randomly like that too. just jumping for one thing to another.

Mercury? Have you heard of gallium or gallium, indium, tin alloy?

wouldnt i be cool to take a 445nm to the 1800s or before and freak people out.
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
Hell a 1W 445nm beam will freak some people out now.
The media is certainly trying to freak people out about 445 too. I hear it can instantly ignite other people into flames now!
I stumbled upon this while YouTubing today and I thought it was really cool and good explanation of DPSS lasers.
Damn, youtube is a verb & a noun? :undecided: I just started using google as a verb like yesterday. :yabbem: I gotta start hanging out with some younger hip kids!!
@Xplorer be my buddy please & keep me from sounding like an old fuddy duddy when I talk?!? We can hang out & do like groovy laser experiments & stuff. Groovy is still a hip word right??

Styropyro did an interesting video on it a while back (with lasers in it!). YouTube - Liquid Metal Gallium Alloy - Looks like Mercury!

I don't even think "hip" is.

yeah i just like mercury, even though my last name is Steele (steel) i should like iron (Fe) four times over. i know there are other liquid metals, but mercury is just such a curious goop. and really flames maybe we should tell ABC or CBS about that. lol.

My favorite element is sodium. Some years ago I had a pound of sodium with whom I made several nice experiments :)

Mercury is the reason all efficient lighting works (aside from LEDs or low-pressure sodium lamps, if you count them) The liquid property is neat, but has few applications.

What?

Man, I can't understand anything you type. What is this about flames?

its a joke, my last name being Steele, referring to steel, with is Fe4, four atoms of iron. and the flames reference was to HaloBlu saying that 445 can instantly ignite people, so i told him to go tell ABC or some big news station. hell sometimes i can barely understand anythong i type.
