I have said it before, and I will say it again...

I would never have even tried this if Rog didn't show us how. And although mine may have it's own cool things about it, it is no where near the complexity of the builds from rog8811.

For sure Rog could probably be a watch maker!

For size, here's some pictures of mine in the palm of my hand:

I'm sure it is probably a little 'taller or thicker' than the box that Rog has, and he has a spiro in there too! Seeing the pictures of how he does it, and actually doing it, are two different things! Just amazing Rog! :cool:



Darkarmyofone, here's a picture of the AixiZ acrylic lens stock vs back cut open... (I read long ago that the plastic will melt, and so I have always cut the back open)

I'm building a rgv laser too, the red laser is 250mw, the blu-ray laser is 150mw and the green laser is 35mw. This 435mw laser is pocket sized too, though the power isn't 435mw, because of the optics it is only about 400mw.

Very interested in knowing just how the color blend works out for you with those powers...

You measured power before the optics? Same optics as this build? PHR/PS3 turning mirror? Or a PS3 sled...

I don't see myself carrying the pocket RPL version of Rog's, though... maybe if I wanted to hit somebody in the head... But it's great, the massive length is for the batteries.

Niko, I do like to try to take good pictures that can make a kind of 'picture tutorial' of some of my builds...

You asked about those parts in the background. They are just a Micro Chrome kit and some 405-G-1 glass lens mods that I was in the middle of at the time.

The little case that I have for my 7 color build is something I got from my wife. It had some CD's in it. But I made better use of it! :D

You can find cases on line easily. Search for gun or pistol cases. You will get a ton of links to aluminum and hard shell cases.

I don't have a power meter, but the optics that I used were the pbs (polorized beam spliter) from the phr-803t for violet and red, and I cut down the turning mirror used to turn the lasers towards the dvd from the phr-803t and used that to join green.

At the end of the day the total power output is not important, getting good colour mixes is, how is yours looking?

Wow great work, very neat and clean work.

whats the name of those connectors that grabs the diode pins? where can i get them or what type or number(inner diammeter or AWG) are they.
or is it just electrical tape??

Correct...

Just heat shrink tubing that is bent over when still warm. (wires bent, not pins)

Update:

Hey I just did a bunch of testing with the turning mirror from the PHR sled, and I am sure it will be even better than the PS3 turning mirror!

In comparing the PS3 turning mirror, I get about the same results for red and the blu-ray, but way less for the green.

The green starts out as 95mW's and is only at about 35mW's after the going through the PS3 turning mirror.

So, I have not built my next one yet, but I don't see why the turning mirror from the PHR sled shown in my pictures cannot be used instead of the PS3 turning mirror.




More testing:


I am anticipating at least 350mW's, maybe 400mW's for the white beam using a GGW 6X at a fairly conservative 180mA's and my 405-G-1 glass lens. And all PHR optics.

I get about a 20% loss through the PHR optics, so this will give me about 180 to 190mW's of blu-ray after optics...

That would be great.
PHR sleds are almost free by comparison with PS3 sleds that we use just for turning mirror...
 
I am sure of my testing... And rog8811 has verified that that the only reason he did not try the PHR turning mirror, is that he had accidentally chipped it. So he used a PS3 turning mirror instead...
