I have build a Magic Stick laser with my most efficient 5.6mm M140 diode.
The driver was set at 2A and it measures 1960mA.
From a cold start it went straight though the 3 Watt mark !

OMG, am I jealous!! It's amazing! I still worry about the efficiency of mine. Once the host arrives, I'll have it LPMed.

Congrats Blord!

This is amazing! I am going to have to find someone local with an LPM and have mine tested out... not expecting anything close to this, but it would be nice just to know.

Very nice find! :) i once had an efficient one aswell. I can only wonder what happened when i drove that one to 2A. The boundries of current are shifting these days. A short while ago most people would not drive their M-140 over 1.8A and their 9mm not over 2.1A.

These days M-140 are set at 2A and 9mm at 2.5A :p sweet diodes :)

Schweeeeet!!!

I'll add robbery at blord's laser lab to my to-do list now :na:

I am thinking I may want to up the current on my 9mm build from 2.1A to 2.4A or so....don't know how much more that would give me though.

This is a very impressive diode! Looking forward to seeing pics of what you do with it.

When can I come visit you...? :p
Very VERY rare diode :shhh:

I have a second runner up diode that does only 40mW less than this diode. They were sitting side by side in one sled.
The copper modules from Mohrberg was used the first time for these diode. Maybe the modules have superior thermal transfer. Coincidence of not ?

Wow nice find! So its either to do with the Magic Sticks or Moh's copper modules?hmmm;) Actually, I think there have been a few of these; AnthoT had one and a new guy posted a while back and IIRC he was only a few mW short of 3 W...

Edit: Any idea about the lifetime of M140 diodes run above 1.8 A?

OMG .. anyway .. when someone pushed 2W for the first time, I said 'What will come next ? 3W ?' .. and here we go ..
Makes me try to push my diodes harder ..
