can i just buy thermal paste and mix it with epoxy?

i think that would be cheaper solution and get more out of what i pay

No, it doesn't work. Already tried it and besides there are 2 different kinds of thermal paste.

1) most commonly and cheapest is Zinc based.
2) Silver (Arctic Silver) which has a moderate amount of Silver in it to conduct heat
very good but expensive

As I said before if you want a thermal epoxy arctic 5 epoxy, GE silver 88% epoxy or transene (88% gold) is for you. For the GE stuff it is about $30USD a tube and liked to being liquid wire. transcene line of epoxies are somewhat more expensive. These would be for you for doing HQ potting work for LD modules.

That's designed for the 9 LED 3 AAA flashlights, but it may fit if the dimensions inside the light are the same.
