1. Can i just remove the crystal and use it like an IR laser, and if i can ,How (just remove the crystal or what)?
2. If i remove the crystal would i be able to put it back on its place and use it as green

Yup that's basically how it works. I think the bare diodes are multimode so don't expect good beam specs. And I'm assuming you understand the dangers of IR?
To make it green again, yes you just have to put it back together. But it can be difficult because everything has to be re-aligned very carefully to get the optimal output.
What laser do you plan on modifying?

(I was planning on modifying a DX 30mw to make an IR burner, just for the record, so your not alone if this is what you were planning on doing)

good luck with the dx, those things are a pain in the ass to work with and take apart. I'd just get a leadlight or a core.

DX 50 is the one but im not sure i am goin to modify it just i want to know , making experiments is fun :D .....or not :)

im still not sure which one to take the true30 or the 50mW version but i think of getting the 50ish because seems more powerfull and decided to take the risk :)

The diode is going to be a 5.6mm guy. It should look just like the GB diodes SenKat sells.
I was planning on doing the DX30 too!! :D Maybe I'll go with a leadlight though... they seem easier to get into.

If this is your first modification, be sure it's a laser you won't mind losing. You have a ~10% chance of success.

You'll need to take out all but one of the lenses in order to make this work.

10%? Just to disassemble the pointer, remove the crystals and use the diode?
And what kind of diode can I expect from a leadlight? 200mW?

When you start taking it apart you will see why only 10%, the lenses and crystals are "peened" in at odd angles to line everything up, once removed your chances of getting it all back in exactly the same position are small.

Oh. 10% chance of getting it back together? Personally, I wouldn't care much to reassemble it. I was planning on making a sort of Infrared "flashlight" to play around with in the dark, maybe mount on a rifle or something.

i modified a lead light to do just that after i dropd it and cryastal assembly broke so my dissambly was easy :P just take off the crystals and ir filter and screw down the lens futher toward the diode and you can have a pretty nice dot (2.4mrad) for night vision : )
