This may be a dumb question but, is it possible to mod the DX 200mw Red to go to a higher power level?
 





No, you will end up with a 1-5mW like my friend did.
You can buy a LG 22x diode and rkstr driver with 400ma and end up with 250mW...
 
you can put a 20x open can diode, and a rckstr driver in it to get around 250mW
 
also ive seen on here laserbee just put 3.7 instead of 3.0 lithiums in and gained a lot more mw ;D without the pot mod i believe
 
Does it not already have a glass lens? Compared to an Aixiz acrylic lens, mine looks like it has the slight blue tint of an AR coating.
 
Hey Amigo (Friend),

The best thing you can do for that laser is to feed it 2- 3.6V lithium rechargeables.

You will have a MUCH higher output than if you had used either 3.0V primaries or 3.0V
rechargeables.

They cost more but, In the end, They are worth it.

If the threads on the focusing part of your laser are plastic, You have an acrylic lens.
If they are metalic, You most likely already have an AiXiZ (type) glass lens assembly.

I may be wrong but, It sounds like he (or she) may not want to go through the troubles of modding the laser.

Maybe this person would like a quick fix to the existing configuration.

Either way, In the near future, I will be in the market for a laserbee 1 Deluxe model. :)

An LD change is really not needed since the standard diode it comes with is pretty strong, comparable to an open can.Maybe a worthwhile mod would be a driver change.I heard the standard driver pretty much sucks. :P

I guess you didn't read my Dilda thread...
All I did was take out the 2 CR2 batteries and I connected an external regulated power
supply to the existing battery contacts and Driver... then I slowly cranked up the voltage to get
322mW at 12 volts... :o

There is no Modding Required... Same Dilda... Same LD... Same Lens.... Same Driver... Different
Power Source.. 8-)

If you just change the 3.0Volt CR2 batteries for 3.6Volt batteries you will already increase the
output of the Dilda drastically...
Not only that... I had used those 3.0Volt DX Panasonic non-rechargeable batteries on another Dilda
and got an output of about 140mw... Just changing to Rechargeable 3.0Volt DX UltraFire batteries it
output 203mW. The available input Current AND Voltage will make a big difference in the Dilda's
output Power IMHO....


Ed... About the Deluxe LaserBee I... Just let us know when you're ready... ;)

There's a little pot on my driver [smiley=lipsrsealed.gif]

I'd like to unsolder the diode and hook it up to a dummy to see if it does anything, but everything's covered in glue >:(
 
Hey Guys Im new to the site but very excited. :) I was wanting to order the DX 200mw laser but its not letting me. The shopping cart says I cannot purchase a laser over 5mw and ship it to the US! Is there a way to get around this or another place in the US to buy the same laser.

Another question I had was about safety glasses. Do I need them for this laser? What do you dont want to do if you dont have safty glasses. I know you dont want to look directly at the light... :o Im guessing its not a good idea to focus your eyes on the laser dot when you burning something close up.

This thread will help with getting a DX 200mW from the US.

Safety glasses for anything over 30mW are a must really. If you accidentally shine the beam at something reflective for a second and it bounces back into your eye - it would probably spell instant eye damage/blindness. Looking at the dot if you're burning something up close can also be easily damaging to your eyes.
They don't cost much, and not buying them just isn't worth the risk.
