Wow this is my first low power single mode pl450b 120mw rated diode build and I love it, I want to finish my mini stainless steal single mode set, so I've got the 120mw Opnex coming very soon, I might use a mini linear driver for that one. This was a really fun build, but It nearly ended terribly, while running out of black wire I used red on positive and negative and after putting thermal adhesive on the soldered pins to stop them breaking I forgot the pinout all I could do was guess and wouldn't you now it I got it wrong, turning the current up really slowly and click 18v to the diode, we'll probably not but that's what it was showing, switched it off straight away and swapped the cables I was about to have a heartattack, but it came to life couldn't believe it, it seemed the best spot on my power supply was 300ma so that's what I set the Xboost to. I used a brass module this time from China. Bit of work on the drill press again and here he is!

300ma is the recommended max for long life witch is we're I've set it!

Hi BBB,
Nice build and WL I just ordered a few single's 450's and getting in some 520's . I use the CU modules from Jordan DTR Have a large stock, With an addition of solid CU backs. Wow yours came out really nice. Here's how i set the drivers without soldering leads to set them till all is in line. Those are nice looking hosts they fit the build.

Rich:)

Hey lifetime17

I use the copper Jordan modules too, these hosts are 10cm by 13.5mm and the modules need to be reduced to fit the head about 1mm otherwise they don't fit, they get warm fast so It does not really make a difference the stainlesssteel keeps the heat from escaping, 15 second bursts max. Also there so small that if you solder the driver directly to the pins your gonna break them off screwing the brass retainer in, it goes all the way to the back of the module, oh did I mention if you don't file the inside of the brass ring with a round file on a drill press, you won't even get the driver in. And the solid back halves from Jordan don't help much for 3.8mm diodes. I've built 8 of these so far love them. There not the cheap looking thin ones although they are cheap, but there very solid and heavy.

I finished my PL450B laser66 build a couple days ago and pushed it to 181mW. Not suggesting anyone else do that by the way;)
