So i manged to destroy the V5's pot whipper and i was wondering were to buy a new one.
 





I reckon it would be pretty hard to find a new pot. Maybe someone here knows the values of the pots on the V5 and can tune in.

IMO replacing the pot would be a huge hassle. A resistor or something would probably work better. (since pots are adjustable resistors)

Couldn't i just bridge some connection on it? i'm looking for the full power it can give me.
 
Im not too sure, I guess it wouldn't harm it if you just ran it on a testload and bridged the contacts. By doing that you'll be able to check if it gives a stable output and how much it outputs.

Yes you can Bridge the pot and it will give you MX output only. Which is ~1.5A.

IIRC its the single pad and the top right pad.

You need a testload though to make sure the driver is not damaged.

Unless you want to risk a diode which is not a bright idea.

Look Up testload on the forum. You can make your own for a few bucks with local Radioshack parts.


However you also Can buy a new pot. But the Value i dont know Buts its a 2mm pot.

I don't have any pots that small but i know it is a 1k pot usually 800 ohms. Can you look at my older post to see if that pot would work?

I finally got around to getting a vernier caliper and a Flexdrive together.
Dimensionally, the package size looks right.
I have not tested resistances or range of the stock pot, but that looks like it should work. :beer:

Thank you, any tips on the soldering?
 
It's a typical SMD solder job.
Use a small amount of good flux on the pot's legs, hold the pot in place on the board.
With a tiny bit of solder on the tip of your iron, touch each leg until the solder flows and joins the board trace to the pot leg.
Be quick and do not hold the iron on the board too long; you risk unsoldering other components.
