Hi guys, Recently, I acquired a Wicked Lasers Mantis from my uncle, a Navy Seal with a Class 3 weapon license. He got it for me and licensed it with the ATF as "Other class of weapon." My question was, what should I do with it? Should I sell it?

I doubt WL sells anything that should be labeled as a "weapon".
Lasers are certainly not toys, but they aren't weapons (in general).
Just because something can be used as a weapon does not mean it is one.
A steak knife could easily be used to maim or kill, yet it is not a weapon.

Hi guys, I had to register it as a weapon, because it apparently cuts tape at a mile away. I broke my camera- it looks like a Wicked lasers Arctic except it is longer, thinner, and a hell of a lot brighter. IDK how bright, it is missing the label- I have heard 1.5 watts. Is it legal to point around? It is a greenie laser. Also, it is a Military laser, and I got one from my uncle, a SEAL and CLASS 3 Weapon dealer and a long permit wait time.

Anyways... sounds like an awesome laser. Have fun :D
I wouldn't try to cut tape a mile away though, ain't gonna happen with a pointer.

Soo... the new ATF requirement is that anything that can cut tape a mile away is a weapon? Sounds like your uncle over-reacted.

Hi, can I point it around? I don't want to cut a helicopter in half:P It can be a pointer, or a wide "Laser" that blinds a mile away- 1 foot width in that way. I will sell if I get a good offer- Pics come when I get a new camera:)

It can't cut tape a mile away ;)

Why not try cutting some tape across your living room and see if that works first?

If you point it in the air (obviously) do not point it at any aircraft, you WILL get in big trouble for that.
As far as I know it is legal on a federal level to shine lasers in empty space, and no you will not burn anything from any measurable distance.
Also, there's no way your laser is a 1.5W 532nm, I would be surprised if it was more than 500mw, seeing as it comes from wicked lasers...

Really im surprised no one else has chimed in about WL, one of the reasons I love this forum is the seemingly innate ability that our vets have to sniff out any WL fandom and immediately quench it in glorious flames.

Sounds like a wicked lasers krypton lol Green Laser Pointer 1 Watt | S3 Krypton | Spyder III | Wicked Lasers

Hi guys, it is Military-built. I checked, and it is 1.5 watts- green. I asked my Uncle (A SEAL) and he said that it was purpose built to: 1. Blind the drivers of cars at checkpoints who do not comply, but show no immediate threat (I know, it will BLINDyou!) and 2. To mark targets for air attacks when there isn't smoke or digital guidance available. He also said that it is kind of a "joke" around the base, how pointless is is. And yes, it kinda looks like the Krypton- but a little shorter than a MagLite and thinner than the Krypton.

Also, I know for a fact WL is not military, so no, your laser is not military built.
I see two different lasers here, one is a military weapon, the other is a shit laser built by WL, which is which? You can't have both.
