I have been getting a bit slack with my last 2 builds. Using off the shelf hosts. All my other lasers are home built lab style lasers. When I get my Nubm44 it will be a fully custom Lab Style. Already ordered my Ally Bar to make the Heat sink and mount. The M462 is a nice Blue color.

Here is my latest. Again a 10 min build. DTR's M462 12mm with driver in a Survival Laser S4X Host with a G2 lens. Not much of a beam shot. Measured output is 2050mw using my Laserbee USB.

I have a Nub44 in that host and its doing fine. The while host works as the heatsink. Looks great with a Sanwu BE on the end too.

Hi,
Nice build those SL hosts are great nice and beefy to ..Great WL choice 462NM awesome blue beam. As DDEN said a Sanwu BE would compliment you build .

Rich:)

Does the Sanwu Beam Expander screw into the S4X or you had to make an adaptor ?

I'm in the middle of an M462 build right now, I like the diode. I've done a build for someone else with the same diode before, the divergence is actually pretty decent especially compared to the really high powered diodes. Looks good!

Hi
The BE from Sanwu , they have an adapter from the lens thread to the BE thread for 5 bucks ,so the BE will screw on to the lens threads

Great stuff. I just ordered one with the M9 adapted. Only X3 Expander but still helps.

Hi,Jet lasers has a 10X BE but must be modded to fit, That one would be to large for the SL you have .

The BE from Sanwu arrived today. It looks very well made. I have only had a quick check indoors with the M462 and the spot size is noticably smaller. Only about a 5 meter range. I will have to wait till i go up to my Astronomy club to test it at a long distance. I dont like running high power lasers outdoors in the suburbs. The beam is to visible and would attract unwanted attention.

Still waiting for my Nubm44. Should be delivered very soon.

Adjust the collimating lens to fit the "window" of the BE and lock that in by slipping the 12mm module into the heatsink till the adapter bottoms out and relock the grub screw. Test repeat till it's how you like.

Thanks for the tip. The BE is not real stable the way it mounts into the M9 thread. What you suggesd would improve it.

Always have like these s4x hosts think they are really beefy looking. BE's are like the iceing in a cake. Enjoy that puppie!

Went up to the Astronomy club last Saturday night and had a chance to check out the Sanwu Beam Expander. Even at only a X3 it does a good improvement to the beam. It was a mostly cloudy night and not much Astrnomoy was done. Adjusting the Collimation and Beam Expander Focus about as good as I could some members said it was visible on the clouds. Pretty dam good for such a diverging beam.

Here is a Photo of the Beam. Coming out of the Beam Expander the beam is about 15mm wide. It focuses well at a long distance. It was a very dark site so no reference is availaible. But this Beam Shot is several kilometers long.
