I would say it would be better to give out as many prises as you can, instead of just one big prise.

Maybe one larger prise and some smaller ones?

Sorry for the pessimisum(sp) but i cant see this going over 300, Ill probably put in $20-$30 somtime in the next few days

Also you should have a poll at the end for all who chipped in to see what to buy, I know I whould love an rpl blue.

Yeah, i as thinking a poll would be good too. As for the smaller prizes, i think its a good idea aswell, maybe if we ge enough money we could give out some Dx-30's or something----Its all up to you guys....

I say we put a link about this on the top of the home page, not too many people look at the group buys.

It would sure let alot more people know about it.

I guess we could back down on the prize, and give out 2, or 3.

I would say have a DX True 50mW, and a DX 200mW Red, and Safety Goggles of winners choice as 3 sub-prizes, and let the winner choose the main prize of <$150 laser if enough is collected. Although an RPL Blue does sound VERY nice.

amk, dont bother starting a poll yet, we have no idea how much we are going to raise yet. A RPL Blue would be awesome, although it will cost a fair bit of money, so we need ALOT of interest in this if we want to make it work.

Heh, I didn't see this thread because it was a sticky, I usually just skip the stickies and go read the new topics! Personally, I don't think it will get near $1000. I could be wrong, and I hope I'm wrong, but it would be pretty hard to get 200 people to throw $5 in. I might throw in $5 later. Also, I like the idea of also handing out some other smaller prizes too.

I think that $500 would be a reasonable amount raised. I don't think it would be too hard to get 50 members to donate $10+ dollars.

It doesnt really matter if we raise $1000 or not, there will still be a prize either way.

the link on top doesn't stand out good enough. i just saw the link on top of the page after reading c0ld's post. i think it needs to either be bigger or of a different color.

guys, no matter who or what donates, we will keep on going until we have the money for something decent. When you go to pay, dont be thinking: "Oh, this will end at $50 and the winner will get a <1mW red" Think: "No matter what is raised, it will be worth my $5, I am both helping the forum, and if I win, I will get something that you wouldn't even dream about getting with $5"

so, dont hesitate, and leave the worrying to Things and I.
