Dear all,

I have a LPC-836 laser diode, but i can't get it's datasheet, please:

- Is there any one who can help me getting this datasheet?

- what is the best current to use it in a continus mode (20mn or even 1 hr in continous).

will i need a heatsink?

all the best

Yes you need a heat-sink and I would run <400mA for longer life. I've built over 10 units with these and I push them hard due to the low cost and low visibility. Most can peak just over 400mW but I certainly can't recommend doing that. Just built another one today in one of Mohs <$5 501b hosts.

Name:LPC-836 (Mitsubishi)
Made in: Japan
Power output: CW 380mW
Pulse Power: 550mW
Working Current: <340mA
Working Voltage:2.2-3.0V
Sealed method:TO18(5.6mm)

Yes Pman is right, you could kill the diode or degrade it over time at 400mA or more, it's really supposed to be 340mA max.

No it is 380mW at 340mA. And please check the date before posting. You are necroposting.

You can achieve a higher output power by electrical pulsing the diode. You allow the laser diode to cool between the pulses allowing the laser to be driven harder. The higher output is in result of driving it at a higher current and using an electrical signal to turn the laser on/off at a fast rate. If the rate is fast enough you will still perceive it to be a continuous beam due to our persistence of vision. An example of where this has been used is in DL 589 Aurora's with the IR pump diode.
