LPC-826 and housing

For your red build a copper module is not necessary. The duty cycle on mine is infinite and it is the standard aixiz module. Good luck!
 





My LPC-826 build is nearly identical to yours, components wise. But how are you powering your setup?

Today has just arrived my diode.

Now i have:
- LPC 826
- housing with lens
- heatsink

i do not have the copper module... i think i'll try without it.
I'm gonna to stick the diode into the standard module..

Any suggestion???

How can i proceed to minize risk of laser faliture?

i have to build the driver. Can a standard current limiting 317 circuit do a good job?

max current for this diode is 600 mA right?

If i link my wrist and the solder with earth ground cable it's safe?
 
Your driver should be fine. But, if you want the diode to live any kind of life at all, stay below 500mA.

I didn't solder the "not used" terminal... it's correct?
 
Right...unless you want the IR also, just the 2 pins. There is a spec sheet or wiring diagram by DTR, IIRC.

Holy shit. i think i burned the diode.
fuck off those stupid DLs they are so weak that if i look them they die.

I think my PSU has some problem...
But the current was setted on 350 mA max.

Why these diodes are so weak?

I have a red laser from 8x dvd burner and i drive it with potentiometer, without a fucking problem...
 
Sorry to hear about your diode, dude. No offense, but I'm gonna guess it's something you did...

I don't know of any weaknesses in these diodes. They're not the most efficient in the world, but mine has taken a ton of abuse, and is being run 150mA over DTR's recommendation.

What kind of power supply are you using?

i'm using a mine homemade PSU, based on 317, with a current limiting and short-circuit protection.
I don't know what happened... But the light was weak also at first run at 350 mA. I cannot explain my faliture.

I sticked the diode in the module with hammer... can be this the mistake? I cannot press the diode in normal way, i have to use hammer to fit the diode in the housing...
 
Jesus, man! This isn't a garage, it's a laboratory!

Just stepping right past the hammer "incident", in regards to your PSU, if you have an oscilloscope, you should measure the current ripple and switching on your PSU.

Buy your next diode from DTR. For $20, it comes already in a module with an acrylic lens.
