Looking for first flashlight

Well Ric from the CN shop offers me a dealership. I don't know if I am going through with it.
You can order the stock BTU with all the available options he offers at his shop.

IE looks like my best option at this point but im talking to a member over on BLF about possibly grabbing his 7G9. any thoughts on that light?

The original 7G9 is just about the only flashlight I didn't try from crelant. The reason being is that it always start off in next mode after you turn it off. To me that's unacceptable.

It's a really good light to mod though, guys at BLF have gotten really good results from swapping in their own drivers and LEDs.

Talked to relic38 and think ive got it 100% figured out, let me know what you think IE

Crelant V6CS XM-L U2 for a cool white light ~710 lumen (your recommendation)
Convey C8 2.8A T6-3C for neutral white light ~700 lumen (relic's recommendation)

Total $46 shipped :D

Sound like a good combo for getting both cool and neutral white lights?

Yup, I think you'll be quite happy with both for your first lights :)

Be warned though, the flashlight bug is extremely addictive... especially to someone like you with a decent sized private property.

.....how is that any different than lasers :thinking:

I have the worst luck, some might say best though, i now have 3 hobbies that are expensive; motocross, lasers and flashlights :rolleyes:

Cant wait to get them and see the flood and throw between them. Dont worry ill throw up a review of both and if you are lucky i might get some beam shots........and for sure some laser beams :eg:

whats next?

Aspheric throwers.

Projectors.

Check in to the local insane asylum, after your family finds out how much you spent, and have you committed :p

want to explain the aspheric thrower to me a little? looks like its just a convex lens to help throw the light????

Projectors are sick as heck but dont have the capital to throw at one just yet

Basically that's all it is. The beam that you get from it is quite different though.

Here's a 7G2CS;

and here's an aspheric;

yeah i saw a little review or guide on building one but didnt say much about Aspheric throwers. i did notice the beam was square and the "dot" was as well.

Do you ever come across a practical use for them?

when i get these lights and want to get something new ill be in touch for one of these :beer:

+1 for all of the help buddy

The biggest advantage with an aspheric light is you can light up a spot far away, without lighting up the whole area. Of course any dedicated thrower will do this, it's just taken to an extreme with aspherics, and with almost zero spill.

Glad I could help :)
