Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits pens

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

I may need a house call, Doctor. My lavadrive arrived and as I was soldering leads on the battery side, I created a solder bridge between the two leads on the board. To clear that, I just flicked the iron quickly. That worked great - and it also took the SMD device just downwind with it. Whatever device that is has now become a part of my carpeting somewhere. Should I just apply the soldering iron to my eye and order another flexdrive, or are there other options? Thanks,

JeffP

drlava...

I placed my order through Google Checkout on May 28th. Google checkout says it still has not been shipped. Are the low range drivers back-ordered?

Thanks

Edited:

Take a clean vac bag and start sucking all over the crime scene then tweezer thu everything on your collection.
Been there done it.

I think that's a $6 Linear Tech QFN  sync buck/boost rect. chip from Digikey. If U PM Doc Lava I bet he will help U.
Best findings!

Hi, it's a 10uF  ceramic cap.  I can send you an extra, just pay for shipping.

also when I try to PM you:
"The user clajef doesn't accept PMs; could not be messaged.
The usernames are either invalid, or they have you on their ignore list. "

Speaking of caps... Is it adviseable to drop an electrolytic cap across the LD leads as in the DDL driver, or is your driver going to provide all the smoothing I would ever need? The docs included with the lavadrive 2 do not specifically address that. Thanks,

JeffP

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

I built a blu-ray pointer w/ one of these drivers. I noticed when moving the laser quickly, it produces a dashed line. I'm guessing this is the regulator? Let me know, because if not, I have a loose part in my pointer.

thanks

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

it should not do that so no it's not the regulator.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

it was a low battery.
It's a 3v lithium, and I've discharged it down to 2.5. Hope that's not too far.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

actually, I just put a new battery in it, and it's still producing a dashed line. Much less pronounced than w/ the exhausted battery, but still a dashed line.

the spacing on the dashes is consistent, so I don't think it's a loose connection.

This is a single 3v cr123 cell w/ a blu-ray.

I have no idea how fast I'm moving the laser, but the line is about a foot -on dash, then about 1/4 inch off -.-.-.-.-.-.-.

as my last battery died, the off dashes got longer and longer until they were about even on/off - - - - - -

Any ideas?

You must have received one of the pre-release super pulse mode drivers! :) congratulations! ;)
I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it bothers you. can you give more details about your build specifics?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

just ordered a couple of your low range drivers for an 803T diode :)

looking forward to getting my hands dirty with some blu rays. thanks drlava
