The first video is of a TEA laser....i'm actually working on right now, still waiting for some parts.
They are a lot of fun to work on. They take easy to find parts and there are quite a few instructions out there on how to build them.

It is a trick, he has a thread in the beam of the laser, that's why you only see the laser turned on, if he turned it off you would most likely see the thread
