Laser printer polygonal mirror assembly

SurplusShed sells some Sharp laser printer assemblies cheap - I think like $15 cheap. They've got multi-sided mirrors like those above inside them. Also, similar brushless motors. (PITA).
I THINK this is one from Fred(SSHED) I got one like this and a poly mirror (larger) w/o anything attached. Just a big poly FS mirror.
First- the mirror only . No matter how careful I was mounting it to any dc motor I could not get it perfectly flat. You will get one straight line ONLY if the mount is perfect. And the motor cannot have ANY wobble.I gave up on that.

I was able to make the one in the Pics run well and long w/o problems and got a perfect straight line great for Liquid Sky. IIRC Fred provided me with a link from another buyer as to how it is wired. This happened a few years back and I had to find it -all dusty - in one of my laser junk boxes. SORRY for all the hot glue mess. my wallart is connected to the plug as follows. There is four places on that plug. far right and far left are not used, the neg(black) is left of center and the pos. is to the right. The vdc and mAs on wallwarts is rarely what it printed on them. This one SAYS its a 15 vdc at 200mAs.(not verified by meter)

since then, I have harvested a few from the older all-in-one scanner/printers. I have not tried to power them up. Fred sells a much larger one too and I spent many hrs trying to get it to move with no luck. I will find it later and add a pic or maybe a SShed link it it is still there FS.

hope this helps the cause.

update- this one in my pics either did not come from SShed or it is no longer FS there. I do have one of the sharp poly assemblies but never tried much to powe it up.

Hak: from memory, the one you pictured isn't the Sharp from SShed, but of course it could be one of their others.
