Hey everyone,
I am wondering what temperature a green laser module operates best at for optimum output?

I know the output drops when the laser gets cold, or when it heats up... any information on the best temp is appreciated!

Thanks!

Each module is different. As the components cool down and/or heat up, the alignment is effected. Some work better at higher temperatures. Some work better at lower temperatures.

Peace,
dave

Body temperature seems to do quite well, no idea of the optimum though....

I see. So, I guess I would need to test the output power at different temperatures.

Any estimates/rule of thumbs on body temperature though?

36.8 °C ±0.7 °C, or 98.2 °F ±1.3 °F
....google is your friend

I find that when my laser starts directly from "rest", the beam is noticeably less powerful than after a few minutes in my hand.

So I guess my laser likes a slight bit more warmth than most ;)

I keep all my lasers and Cree's leds in a termal chamber with temperatures around 37°C ± 1°C and low humidity(45% ± 10%). Ready to use! ;)

My o-like modules seem to like it really hot. Its driving me insane, whenever I put them in a heatsink their output power halves or worse but I don't want to run them with no cooling.

Like Dave said -- Body temperature. That works for most of my lasers.

So far my O-like modules are also happy at body temp too.
