laser lighter kipkay

LOL it depends on the diode!!!

why don't you ask the seller.... If its a PHR I suggest 100ma as "safe" current... with heat sinking you can push it to around 125ma... but you will not have ample space/mass to make a heat sink to fit in that lighter. If it a 6x such as a SF-AW210 then you are looking at around 170-180ma for "safe" current!

yes... but you will only be able to run this for a couple of seconds with out heat sinking 20-30 seconds duty cycle would be my guess.. CMIW. If the diode gets warm then turn it off immediately.. otherwise you will fry your laser. Also make sure you know how to attach and solder the LD to the driver. Make sure you short the cap... otherwise you will kill the diode, also make sure all solder points are strong and not dry or cracked... one spike of voltage/current will fry your diode!

Have Fun!! READ READ READ before you attempt to make this! Hope that helped! -Adrian

okay tahnks for your great help but what do you mean with "make sure you short the cap" ? i dont understand this

The capacitor can store a charge that would kill the diode when you connect it with the driver. When your ready to attach the driver to the diode, disconnect the driver from any batteries and connect the output leads of the driver together for a second, this will make sure any power left in the drivers capacitors is depleted, making it safe to attach your laser diode.

This is a waste of time and money, it is now way button cells can supply enough current.

How are you going to fit enough button cells for 9V in there lol? Or are you going to somehow attempt to get a 9V battery in there? You would need a pretty big lighter...

LOL I hope your joking

can any one sell me a flexdrive preset on 180mA coz i dont really understand google checkout

why do I get the feeling that a full understanding on shorting out caps will have come from a less than happy experience someday soon? toy?? lasers like bb guns are not toys. imo--SEARCH and then search again. good luck with kipkay as your role model!!

I don't know what 9V batteries/lighters you guys have, but I'm holding a 9V battery and a lighter in my hand right now and there is no way in hell it would ever fit in there.

Think you should go with Rog's zippo type laser lighter --> Flip-top Laser Lighter - Video

It's got more room in it and IMO I think its better in every way when you compare it to Kip's video. Rog has a website called It can be done - Laser lighter

LOL Byrnz93 his not going to use a 9v battery! If you read my post, I said you will need 9v min if you were using a linear driver such as the rckstr driver. If you use a buck/boost driver, like the one from rayfoss or the Flexdrive you can use 3v (2 button cell batteries).
