i have one of those "Laser 301" green laser, like this one:

except the part where the diode is (4) doesnt have a metal ring around it
it used to be able to burn dark plastic, but now its not able to do that anymore
i thought, maybe i could modify it in someway so it could output more power?

its a IR laser, and it gets green after going though the crystal
so... if the laser pointer have a crystal like that in there, it means the diode is always a IR one?

burn ? DealExtreme Forumremove the DPSS crystal, which will cause the laser to no longer appear green, but be very powerful. (850mW vs 5mW) If you remove the crystal, you will be able to burn wood/clothes relatively easily.
