im getting one of these. and best of all i got it free. it was added to my order for some mis communication with the 50mW laser. (wow deal extreme is so great!)

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3425

its really cool. it's 3000'C in a single click! it burns every element on the table of elements except for the last 6... look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_elements_by_melting_point

also i understand, this can melt small locks... :)

EDIT: I have the torch now. and here at youtube ive uploaded a video of it melting pennies. if i really focused on just 1 penny it would melt a lot faster. for some reason the 2nd penny didnt wanna melt.

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

uhm...what are you going to use it for ? :o

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

I bet he's using it for burniating fun! But I have went through 3 of those things, they melt pennies in seconds but for some reason they die quick. The sparker goes bad after just a few weeks of use which really sucks, but maybe you got a really good one.

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

Eh...sounds like the lighters I buy ! I spent 40+ bucks on a Colibri lighter, and had it for 4 months before it died on me....it came with a one year warranty, so I took it back to he place I bought it from...they had it for 2 months ! I finally got it back, and gave it to a friend ! LOL I buy the little cheapo 10 refillable butane ones that colibri sells now, worked longer than its' $40 cousin did !

yes ive had some torches that do the same. the ones u can buy locally seem to do that. but this one looks pretty fancy and durable, so im hoping it can spark for a while. all of the reviews on this are positive and the over-all review is a 5 star. people owning it for a month have not complained about it. i have a feeling it will be a good torch.

what will i do with it you ask? well i will of corse melt some coins and see how that goes. i am actually curious what type of locks it can melt... lol. i just had fun visuals of burning the locks off vending machines and taking the money and buying drinks with that money lol.

can u imagine a laser pointer this powerful?

lol. here's a 67kW laser the military are developing:

I'd love to see this thing in action. And it would be smarter to have the laser be an IR laser so you wouldn't know where it came from.[/quote]
yes thats true.

so ive recieved my torch (last week actually) and it is very fun to play with. it gets really hot and like all torch's you can adjust the amount of fuel that comes out at the bottom. there are 2 modes, the jet lighter mode and a mode more similar to a normal lighter (but still much hotter). i suppose if i get a chance i can take some videos of how it peforms. that is if it's even worth taking the video of?

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

Anything with fire in it deserves a video ;D

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

I ordered one on July 1st. I am still waiting, oh well, most of the things I buy from DX take about a month to get here. ::) Definatly worth it once they arrive though. :D

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

What styro said, I almost bought one of those... But eventually decided disposable lighters work fine. But seriously, nice to have something like that since it lights fuse SO much more reliably! ;D

Except the one I looked at was 50 bucks :o :o :o

PS: I have melted a many handful of pennies with my Fresnel lens... it takes about 4-5 seconds! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Problem is I always to pyrotechnics at night. :(

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

Yeah those mini torches light fuse INSTANTLY, there's none of that "think it's lit" and it never smolders a little bit before it lights, it just LIGHTS lol. You can pick up the mini torches off ebay for a few bucks. I'm thinking about buying one of those frensel lens things, those look FUN. And do you live in the country? Cause I kinda do (but i still have neighbors) and I can't do any pyro at night anymore without cops coming and circling around by my house...

Re: Large Butane Iron-Melting Torch!

That is very cool! I'd love to see the torch in action... video of course ;)

Also, about the laser... For some very odd reason it makes me think of the scene in Terminator when all the robots are fighting in the future and they're using laser guns... lol 8-)
