I'm planning to build a lab-bench green laser from a 1064nm 400mW infrared laser. Do KTP crystals have a limit to the amount of power you can pump it with?
Building a greenie with a 400 mW pump MIGHT give you 80 mW of green. If your time is worth anything, get a 50 mW+ greenie. I've been there and it's a learning experience.

yeah you guys are forgetting that he's using a 1064nm pump + KTP, so the efficiency should be much higher than if he was using an 808nm pump + nd:yvo4 + ktp. I mean, with the nd:yvo4 + ktp with a 500mW 808nm pump some of those DX pens actually crank out 200mW, so with 400mW of 1064nm pumping you should be able to get some good power.
As for the original question, as far as I know, they have limits. You need to get a KTP designed to be able to produce the amount of power you're after. You could always just pick up one of those laserscope KTP's on ebay. They're pretty dang cheap and they're used in a 40W laser, so they should be able to handle a few hundred mW's
